Ok, so about 6 months ago,l we had a MASSIVE wind storm that knocked down trees all over town. One of the fallen giants was the ANCIENT oak tree that had lived for over 2 centuries outside the local Masonic Lodge. Before the city could clean it up, I grabbed a nice chunk of splintered wood off the ground and it's sat on my Altar ever since ( Read more... )

I second that and as an artist I do this with materials. Put the wood in view, so you always see it, in the corner of your eye and very soon you will know.

*forehead slap* I hadn't thought of asking the wood what it wanted. So simple, and yet it never occurred to me! I'll set things up tonight.

Let us know, please!

My husband said he would be glad to carve it into an antheme, if you want. He's great at that (he is a Native American Shaman - cool, huh?).

You can PM me, if you want

Are you trying to use spell check? Athame is not an official word in its dictionary, so it will constantly tell you it is incorrectly spelled. (I'm thinking this because you've spelled it incorrectly at least three times, 2 different ways: atheme and antheme). It's athame, unless your tradition has a different spelling than most.

Perhaps cut the wood up and use pieces here and there as spell components to give you spell extra wallop. Or you could just leave it like it is as a symbol of the power of nature.
