The Wonder of Life

Nov 25, 2006 01:09

Poem written during my shift of tending Brigid's flame:

Teach me the wonder of life,
the joy in living,
the beauty that exists in every soul.

Brigid, show me the magic in the mundane
and the wisdom of wonder.

May I never take for granted
the miracle of existence,
the blessing of my days and nights,
the gifts that I give
and the gifts I receive.

I am amazed by the vibrance of each season in its turn,
my ability to feel compassion and to see what is not yet made visible.
I am humbled by the majesty, the power, the complexity of each person
I come across.

And most of all I am entranced
by the living life-force of Deity
that permeates all matter, that connects all living beings,
in this world and in all worlds,
on this plane and on all planes,
that weaves a tapestry of life
so complex and so beautiful
that I cannot perceive it,
but only gasp in wonder at its existence
and know my presence in it.
