Dublin Irish Festival

The Dublin Irish Festival was fun this year. I spent most of the time working at the Fly by Night booth (and I'll get paid!) It was fascinating being "backstage" and getting to see (and experience) the work that goes into setting up and taking down booths.

Highlights:

I found a four-leaf clover. I just happened to look down while I was working and it was right there. It's the first time this has ever happened to me.

I hung around in the 10th-century Irish Village for over half an hour, talking to my friend Erin, the woman in the "sheep to shirt" exhibit, the man at the oven, the harper (who let me play her metal-stringed harp) and the seanachie (storyteller.) This was as close to Pennsic as I'm likely to get this week.

I got to hear storyteller Alan Irvine, the second half of Beth Patterson's performance on Friday and the first half on Sunday (note to self - get one of her CDs), and many of the bands at the Dublin Stage since I was a captive audience at Psyche's booth. ;-) I did not actually see any of the merchants this year, apart from Fly by Night.

It was nice hanging out with Psyche and the other people who worked the booth. If I weren't leaving Columbus in a week, it would be nice to get to know them better.

All in all, an enjoyable experience.
