Clinton's experience

Feb 21, 2008 13:40

There has been a lot of talk about experience in this campaign, so I decided to do a little research and find out what experience Clinton has. While I still think Richardson had more experience than any other candidate, Clinton is pretty impressive.

1. Staff attorney for Children's Defense Fund
2. One of two female lawyers on staff of House Judiciary Committee who prepared impeachment case against Richard Nixon
3. Ran legal aid clinic for the poor in Arkansas
4. Appointed by President Carter to the board of the United States Legal Services Corporation, a federal nonprofit program that funds legal assistance for the poor
5. Served on national boards for the Children's Defense Fund, the Child Care Action Campaign, and the Children's Television Workshop
6. Led the American Bar Association's Comission on Women in the Profession, raising awareness of issues like sexual harrasment and equal pay
7. Was twice named one of the 100 most influential lawyers in America
8. First woman on BOD of Wal-Mart after Sam Walton forced to place a woman on the previously all-male board of directors
-championed need for more women in management
-implemented comprehensive environmental program
9. First Lady of the United States of America
As with all First Ladies, this meant that Clinton
-was an advisor to the President
-served as a diplomat abroad and with visiting foreign dignitaries
-had a bird's eye view of the inner workings of the job of President
10. Her causes as First Lady:
-make adoption easier
-expand early learning and child care
-increase funding for breast cancer research
-help veterans suffering from Gulf War Syndrome
11. Chair for the presidential committee on Universal Health Coverage
12. US Senator

Stand-out pre-First Lady achievements: preparing the impeachment case against Richard Nixon, on the BOD of Children's Television Workshop, and taking on Wal-Mart.
