Puck feelings. lol
Well it is mainly about Puck and about how he's all about family. Since he gave his California money to his pops he didn't make it out there this summer, instead he just kinda left town and didn't tell anyone where he was headed, but let them assume that he went to LA. His Ma knows, but that is about it. I imagine that he went to Columbus or Cleveland because they are bigger cities and he can get lost in the crowd; it may still be Ohio but he's not a Lima Loser. So when Shue calls, and like Will still has everyone's cell number and like texts them all on his first day of school saying "I miss you guys, but I know you are all doing great things!" (Will knows because he totally facebook stalks who he can), but I digress... So Will calls and tells Puck how awesome his little brother is.
But Will also tells Puck how much Jake is like him before Glee club and that just kinda hits Puck where it hurts. He remembers the slushies and the hating himself and just the rage he would have until he blacked out and all of a sudden his hand is somewhere it shouldn’t be causing some kind of trouble he shouldn’t be doing whether it was his hand on a fire alarm or in Quinn Fabray’s Cheerio skirt. He also knows what it is to be an abandoned Puckerman.
So he says, “Schue you’re lucky I’m in town visiting my ma this week. I’ll talk to him.” Puck throws a few things in a bag calls his Ma to let her know he’ll be in town for a day or two and makes the 3 hour drive back to Lima. When he crosses the town line he feels pride at getting out even if he isn’t living the dream. He’s on the edge, but what if like Jake and his little sister need him. He’s older and knows what they are going through. He planned to move to LA at the end of the year but maybe he should stay in Ohio longer and help. Yeah he doesn’t know Jake, but the punk is family and well family is all you have in this world till it leaves you like his dad did, like Shelby with Beth.
When Jake sees him it is like a dream and wonders if he just made it up in his head. He’s heard about Puck from his mom and the rumors around the school. He actually hates that he missed Puck by a year in this dump, and wonders if they could have been friends. The missed opportunity stings, but he doesn’t really want to have to live up the Puckerman name so he turns down WIll and ignores the Glee Club as best as possible. He didn’t count on Will’s persistence, Sam’s friendliness, or Puck caring enough to come see him. Still in shock at actually meeting Puck he agrees to Glee Club. (Also is it weird that he only knows his brother by a nickname based on their shared last name? )
