Hey Alex. Winn told me you had posted about the marching band and your year being so bad. Now, Alex. I think perhaps some of the stuff you heard from people in our section had NOTHING to do with band itself. There was a lot of drama that went down this year, and THAT is the part we hate. Plus those of us that are older like to pretend like that makes us special or something, but we are full of crap. Its just because we are jealous that our years are dwindling here while you guys are just at the beginning of your "marching band experience". We all know there is nothing like your first year. It is always the coolest, and you guys are living it. Vets can never go back, so we get our small enjoyment by reminiscing on the past (I'll bet I spelled that wrong, oh well).
Every year is great. True, your perspective changes as you get older, but it is like that for every year. Every year is so different from the next that it is TOTALLY ridiculous to even compare them. Each new member adds something and each member that leaves changes the make-up of the band SO MUCH. If you want to know my real opinion, the one that I don't give you when I am giving you a hard time, it is that I wouldn't trade this year for anything. And I mean that. I really do. Now buck up and stop moping around, or you will miss the rest of a great year. :)
