I voted!

I got in at around 8:30 in the morning, and there was no line at all. Our precinct is small and incredibly well staffed, and there were more booths than anyone could have possibly made use of. (The booths, which lacked curtains, were also spread out in such a way that you had to walk past them to get anywhere, thus making sure that anyone passing by could see how you felt about same-sex marriage or drug rehabilitation programs. *grins*)

Scantron sheets always fill me with the same irrational fear from grade school that I will somehow bubble them in incorrectly. (This despite my mother complimenting me on my bubble-filling technique when I was helping her fill out her absentee ballot.) I basically haven't stopped grinning since I got to the polling place. This is only partially due to lack of sleep and mostly due to - finally. Finally, I get to vote. I wrote a letter to myself when I was about 12, to be opened when I turned 18, and though I lost it during the move (without having been able to read it) I remember the one thing I demanded my older self do was vote.

Go make your inner 12 year old proud, if you haven't already. Go decide a four-year chunk of the future.
