If you have always believed that "quitters are losers" or that "quitters are sissies," this entry is especially dedicated to you.
It has been 3 weeks since I decided to banish cigs out of my life. Going to a Marlboro party last Friday night was quite a treat. I couldn't believe how much intolerance to smoke I've developed in a matter of days. It's almost incredible.I had to step out of the place about 3 times because my eyes were getting teary from all the smoke and I couldn't breathe (no exaggeration here). It was a fun party, however, they ran out of scotch unbelievably early.
So now, on to the real point of this entry. Let me tell you about
nicotine withdrawal symptoms that are slowly creeping into my system.
1. Insomnia and the eye bags
Aside from the fact that some inconsiderate person decided to awaken me with his blaring "lata" speakers somewhere around this neighborhood, I have really been finding it extremely difficult to sleep at night. I admit I take more than 4 cups of coffee a day, but that has been my average intake for the last 3 years and I tell you, getting sleep wasn't a problem. Eye bags... sigh.
2. That awful sorethroat feeling!
It always feels like something's stuck at my throat. My throat is sticky and I always feel the need to clear it, but nothing really comes out. No phlegm, no nothing. Last Saturday it even felt like I had a fever.
3. The bottomless pit that is my stomach...
Getting hungry every 2 hours (even after a full meal) is a fattening ordeal. Wanting to call McDo delivery at 3 AM is the stairway to obesity when the only regular physical exercise you do is walking less than a kilometer a day and typing on your computer.
There are various theories on why
people who quit smoking tend to eat more. Oral fixation raw and all that.
So far, eto pa lang. :-) Kaya pa. Haha! I can't quit on quitting cigarettes... sobrang labo na non. I actually wrote this entry at 3am this morning. I was trying so hard to get back to sleep but I just couldn't... maybe the next step would be reducing my daily caffeine intake. Trying to kill 2 addictions simultaneously... hmmm.. let's pray I survive the next few days. :-)
