Once upon a time, there was a young girl named Mayuko Kamikawa, daughter of a wealthy family. She had no friends, save for one boy her age named Takeshi Tsujidou.
She died that way.
-Except this would be a very short app if that was all there was to her. Needless to say, that wasn't quite the end of her story, though it was the end of her normal life. After death, she became a Yaka-an immortal being. However, such a thing comes with a price: as a Yaka, she can no longer go out in the sunlight. And so, as someone who couldn't mingle with regular society, she should have been fated to be alone for the rest of her life.
Fortunately, she, again, had one very good friend in the form of one Takeshi. Upon realizing what she had become, he swore to find a way to return her to normal-but until then, he would always be by her side. Seventeen years later, as a grown man while she was still in the body of a child, he still intended on keeping that promise.
He was, however, neglecting to tell her how he planned on returning her to normal. That is, he sought to kill another Yaka by the name of Matsuri, drawing her blood with a special sword, which would then return Mayuko to normal. All she was aware of was that he was dealing with a Yaka, suspicious of exactly how.
[Personality]
Mayuko is undeniably one strange (not so) little girl.
The first thing most people will probably notice about her is that, likely because of her wealthy background, she's a bit of a pompous brat-and 'a bit' might be putting it graciously. As Takeshi can tell you, she comes across as being very high-maintenance and impossible to please. If she wants something and you don't get it for her? You can bet that she'll be sure to complain. If you did get her what she wanted? She might still find a reason to complain. Really, she's the kind of person who seems to just be looking for an excuse to snark at people, such as when she disdainfully remarks how Takeshi's smoking will ruin the smell of the restaurant's seafood... even though she's planning on ordering a meat dish.
However, that being said, she's not a malicious person, and so that kind of extreme attitude is reserved more for those whom she's close with (read: Takeshi). It's less that she actively tries to put others down, as it is that she's proud and tends to say what's on her mind and do what she wants, without caring too much for the other party's feelings. Consequently, she's also the type to lead conversations, so to speak, by always stating her opinion, interrupting the other person if she wants to (frequently with a punch from her rabbit doll), and occasionally deflecting comments with strange remarks. One example would be in the past, when Takeshi protests the use of his first name because his last name sounds cooler, and Mayuko replies that he can call her by her first name too then-which, while connected to the conversation, obviously has nothing to do with his point. In a sense, she lives in her own little world where her own thoughts seem to be the most important ones. She gets what she wants, without holding back (at one point going as far as to seriously threaten to run away from Takeshi when he won't tell her the truth).
Quirks (like the aforementioned bunny punching) aside, Mayuko also gives off the impression of being wise beyond her years. This is both fairly accurate and inaccurate in that she is, well, much older than she looks. Despite her occasionally childish personality, she's generally rather serious and stoic, albeit easily irritated. She doesn't have blind faith in people, instead choosing to doubt Takeshi's words and being able to tell when he's lying. Additionally, while she is, in a way, very dependent on him, she's also fairly independent when he's not around. She has to be, after all, as someone who's always alone otherwise.
Speaking of which, Mayuko is both lonely and not at all. As someone who's never really had any friends aside from Takeshi and just about can't anymore, she doesn't deal with blatant displays of companionship and affection often, seeing as how while she and Takeshi are close, neither are particularly affectionate. However, by no means is she unappreciative of his company. He is the single greatest thing in her life, and she's very aware of it, especially as Yaka are meant to always be alone. His presence is enough so that she doesn't feel bitter over what she is, because even though a normal life is impossible for her, he kept his promise. He's always been by her side, and so she's been happy. As she herself states, she doesn't see her being a Yaka as a 'sacrifice'.
And on that note, she is a far kinder person than she appears. Despite her snooty behaviour, she's rather selfless and compassionate inside, explicitly stating once that she "cannot leave an injured person behind." She doesn't approve of harming or killing others, even for her own sake. While Takeshi may have no problems about sacrificing another for her, she does. And even to a less extreme degree, she's fully capable of worrying about others and being friendly in her own way, such as when she buys dinner for Matsuri. Additionally, even though she seems very picky and materialistic, she's actually not. For all that she complains, she's more compliant than she'd have you believe, and it's hard to be materialistic when your home is a box. Indeed, finding a shiny and clean garbage can is essentially the equivalent of buying a new house for her, and her awe is the same as such. It's cold and not exactly the most pleasant of living conditions, but she makes do because she knows that really, she can't actually afford to be nitpicky.
[Specialties/Abilities]
As a Yaka, it can be assumed that she shares the abilities that other Yaka are seen utilizing: i.e. enhanced speed and agility and regeneration. She should also have a special, miscellaneous ability, but she is never seen using it in canon. However, as she's always had Takeshi, she's likely no fighter.
On the other hand, she seems fairly adept at reading people's moods and intentions.
[Affection]
[Fighting] Yes to all with permission. Why you'd want to is beyond me, though. D:
[Other Permissions] Preferably no fourth-walling, but all telepathy is fine.
[Other Facts]
While lit rooms, rainy days, and the like are fine, she can't handle sunlight or extremely bright lights. Also, yes, the bunny doll goes everywhere with her.
