2012.06 DIME Men's Beauty - Otokomae Interview: Kamenashi Kazuya

[otokomae = handsome man, good looks]

The determination of a 26 year old man
Kamenashi-san celebrated his 26th birthday in February this year.
Of course he works in the idol group KAT-TUN, but with the passage of the years he gets more work, from sports caster, real time commentator, and dramas to radio and stage plays, his activities are vigorously expanding.
We draw close to the "real face" of Kamenashi Kazuya-san, a man with such many-talents and who is overflowing with vitality.

I want to turn the things I experienced and learned day after day into my own strength

- This time, you appear for the third consecutive time in "DIME Men's Beauty", looking at the first and second appearance, what do you think?
* I have grown up~ (while looking at the past two front covers). The first one was in my first year as caster for "Going!Sports&News". I had highlights in my hair, I was seeking individuality, or rather, a little resistance/defiance, there might have had such a feeling (*laughs*). I think that now it's not about the appearance. I have reached a point where I can also more or less dress stylishly in a suit.

- Finally, you reached the second half of your twenties. Is there a change in your mental state?
* I feel responsibility, I think I need to grow up more. Also somehow the things I have done so far, as such, are not becoming my strength/are not helpful. I want to turn the things I experienced and learned into part of myself.

"When I put my personal appearance in order [tidy up], my heart/mind is also put in order. The postiveness of my mood is completely different."

I master the busy days with "self maintenance"

- Please tell us your usual method of skin care.
* After washing my face, I use face lotion, a milky lotion, and moisturizer. When I have the time, I also sometimes take my time and use a steamer.

- What are you usually extremely careful about in your eating habits?
* Because I tend to be short on vegetables, I try to drink aojiro [vegetable juice made from green vegetables]. I also drink specially made fresh juice that I mixed in the mixer. I just mix cold bananas or strawberries in the mixer, it's unexpectedly easy.

- What are you doing for physical strength?
* Before stepping into the bath, I do muscle trainings by performing push-ups, sit-ups etc. When I am in high spirits, I enthusiastically start going to the gym, but because this year I don't have time I can rarely go. In busy times sleep has priority after all (*laughs*).

- Finally, for you, what is personal appearance?
* I think it's something where even the heart can be put in order. Before and after putting my appearance in order, the positiveness of my mood is completely different. Therefore, it also functions as a switch when I change/switch moods. I think paying attention to personal appearance is wonderful.

Otokomae Interview

Q: What's the thing you want most right now?
A: This is real, I want a time where I don't have to think about anything.

Q: Your most attractive feature?
A: The two dark moles on my right shoulder

Q: A sportsperson who is on your mind?
A: Player Matsui Hideki. Of course, he is not a player who will remain in the minor league, I don't want him to remain there. [At the time of the interview Matsui played minor league, since then he entered major league.]

Q: A woman's hairstyle, short or long hair, which do you like?
A: If it fits her, I like both. But the one I am probably attracted to/charmed by is a short style. Especially, a stylish short one with a feeling of having been cut [I think he means a frayed/uneven cut].

Q: A number you like?
A: 23

Q: If you were born again, would you want to be a man or a woman?
A: A man. I would go to university, go to goukon [joint party with males and females], do a different work, and try doing different things than I do now.

Q: If you had a month long vacation?
A: Just thinking about it makes me happy (*laughs*).

Q: A food you are recently taken with/fell for?
A: Gyoza. An then I also make "walleye pollack-mochi-cheese" monjayaki [savoury pancake with fillings].
