Rakan Butoh Dance Theatre
in collaboration with the University of Utah
presents
Une Saison en Enfer

Sex. Violence. Absinthe. Inspired by the late nineteenth century French poetry of Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine and using styles from ballet to burlesque, modern to mime, creator/director Jerry Gardner has taken eleven actors from the University of Utah's theatre department and transformed them into dancers. With a limited engagement from April 16-19 in the university's Studio 115 space, this sexy, dangerous show is simply not to be missed!
Butoh, a dance movement that emerged in Japan as a response to World War II, encompasses highly artistic, abstract, and often disturbing image movement. Though traditionally performed in full white body paint, this production, hand in hand with its contemporaries, begins to push and question the boundaries of an art discipline that never quite possessed an identity in the first place.
Performances begin promptly at 7:30 Thursday through Saturday, with 2:00 P.M. matinees Saturday and Sunday. Arrive early -- tickets and seating are limited. General admission is $10; $6 for students. Studio 115 is located in the Performing Arts Building, just west of the campus bookstore.

please come, it's gonna be absolutely fantastic :) there's also a free preview wednesday night... ssh.
