The year in review.

First off, might as well start with the stats.

First movie seen in 2008 was Be Kind Rewind.
Last movie seen in 2008 was The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Most Trips to see a movie in 2008 was The Dark Knight with 3.
Number of Movies seen in 2008 was 41.
Number of trips to the movies was 44.

And now, the list behind the cut.

The top ten movies seen in 2008, in no particular order.

1. Choke
An amazing job of portraying one of my favorite authors works, without doing what that author is so known for, being over the top. It told the story, pretty much verbatim, without showing all the gritty details. I enjoyed it. But it was no Fight Club... (i hate that comparison)
2. Mongol
The story of Genghis Khan's rise to power. It was awesome, and so is he. I can't wait for the sequels, if they truly are getting made.
3. How to Lose Friends and Alienate People
Simon Pegg = Awesome and hilarious. It was hard picking between this and Run, Fatboy, Run, but I liked this one better. Might have something to do with the writing, but I loved it all around.
4. Burn After Reading
Coen Brothers are at it again. And so soon after their absolutely amazing No Country for Old Men. Is there anything they can't do?
5. The Rocker
Hilarious. Rainn Wilson is great. I wish more people had seen this movie.
6. Henry Poole is Here
Good. A nice strong performance from Luke Wilson. Very beautifully shot. If only that woman hadn't laughed so much in the audience.
7. Wall-E
A-mazing. E-nough S-aid.
8. Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Kevin Smith is back on his game. Not that he ever left. But some people seem to think so. They are wrong. This is good.
9. Slumdog Millionaire
One of the best things Michael has ever suggested we go see that I knew very little about. Good Job Danny Boyle.
10. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
A good way to end the year. It was a beautiful love story. I loved it.

Honorable Mentions
Be Kind Rewind
Technically out last year, didn't see it til the beginning of this year. I loved it.
Quarantine
One of the best horror movies that came out this year, i think, and some wonderful use of camera work. Thank god there is so little of the infrared cam.
W.
Good. Accurate? Too soon? possibly on all accounts.
Swing Vote
Wish more people had seen this hilarious and heartwarming comedy. Hooray Democracy.
Tropic Thunder
You've probably seen it. You know it's awesome.
The Spirit
Just the right amount of camp. I respect everyone in this movie for their devotion to something as silly and awesome as this.

Worst Movie
88 Minutes
Bor-ing. Not engaging at all. Just not fun to watch.

Best Movie
The Dark Knight
Where to begin?

So that's the year in review.
