We've known since we moved in here that this house is haunted. The ghosty is a she, and for the most part easy to live with. She doesn't like arguing and was at her most active back when my husand Ferrett and I were having marital problems: bathroom cabinets popped open, candles were lifted off of spindle holders and rolled across the floor, shoes fell off racks, and one night when we were arguing the wall directly over our heads was punched loudly. We got the message - the peace of this house that we'd sensed the moment we walked in was self-enforcing.
When my sister Kristi moved in she immediately became the ghosty's favorite. She experienced some pretty unsettling moments, ending with the ball that rolled to her, rolled away, and rolled back. Freaked, she picked it up, put it away, and loudly proclaimed that she did not want to play. Things settled back down for a while then.
On Thursday, Kristi moved out. Thursday evening the power went out around the kitchen stove. We went downstairs and checked the breaker, which was still at on. Just to check, we popped it off and back on again. Nothing. The next morning Ferrett called the electrician to set up an appointment. Then he went down to use the treadmill and discovered that the power was out in the family room, where Kristi had resided. Checked the breaker box - again, nothing. Called and told me.
Went back upstairs and discovered the power was back on in the kitchen, and then found the power back on in the family room. Apparently whatever ghosty was doing, she couldn't stretch it out that much.
We've both gone down and reassured her that we will not abandon her, that we will come downstairs and visit. I hope that keeps her happy - having to call out electricians for nothing would get expensive!
Has anyone else here been this actively haunted?
