I know what my dictionary says*, but how would you define/explain mysticism? Do you think that it's something all or most spiritual people take part in to some extent, or only a select few who choose a specifically mystic discipline?

*"A spiritual discipline aiming at direct union or communion with God or with ultimate reality through trancelike contemplation or deep meditation," according to my Webster's.

I ask because the dictionary seems very specific about methodology and purpose - yet a lot of people I have spoken with seem to have a much broader personal understanding of the word. I'd like to get a better feel for what most pagans mean when they use it.
