Scorpion symbolism

I have a friend who is looking for some symbolism attributed to the scorpion, which has become important to him recently. He's not into astrology so Scorpio attributes wouldn't mean anything. I'd like to get together a collection of common attributes for consideration.

Serqet is an Egyptian scorpion-related goddess; looking into Her might be worth doing.

When I saw the Tut exhibit as a wee lad, I fell in love with Selket. It was probably my first Goddess worship if you don't count the virgin Mary.

I even prayed to her to protect me against scorpions. (Its worked so far!)

Ah the seeds to my polytheism go way back...
