Ancient Gods with Modern looks

I've come to terms with the fact that Athene is and has been my goddess for a long time, even before I officially became pagan. I'm into education, wisdom, thinking logically and for myself, and defense when needed. I also have other personal gods, but she's my primary. Thing is, I don't see her as she was in the old days--with the robes, spear, helmet, and shield. I feel that she has adapted to the modern world and has updated her look and her worship to match. I see her as a neatly dressed business woman. Dark slacks--not a skirt--a neat button down shirt, loafers, and simple glasses. But if she has to, she takes off the glasses and will and can kick your ass. A shrine or temple to her could be a library or a book store or a well stocked shelf of books. And one way of honoring her is to research, research, reseach, and not just take anything at face value. I've though more on her than anyone else because she is my primary, but I've had the same thoughts about Hermes and Aphrodite, who are part of my personal pantheon.

So does anyone else here have a "modern" interpretation of the gods and goddesses? Or do most pagans stick to the old looks of the gods and the old ways of doing things to honor them?
