61,433 is the final word count of June! But seeing as there's still 20,5 scenes to get done, I'm joining the inofficial July Camp as well. Here's to 50 000 more words!
And here's the rest of the NaNo meme I've been doing:
Today's questions
What are the names of at least two of your main characters? How did you choose their names?
Glaw and Dylis Nevett, a pair of siblings. I picked their names as I decided to give the human characters Welsh names. Their last name means "knight", which fits with their personalities, as well as their work for the Imperial Army. Dylis means "rain" and Glaw means "genuine", which means I have a Rain Knight and a Genuine Knight; both those descriptions fit the characters quite well.
Was any research involved (historical or otherwise) in your NaNo prep?
Most of the research I've done have involved Ancient Roman/Greek clothing, weapons and blimps. No, not ancient blimps, just blimps. My research has been fairly sporadic, as the story takes place in my own invented world and I've imporvised a lot. But yes, there has been a fair bit of research done, none the less.
What’s your word count now? Are you satisfied with your progress or panicked that you won’t have enough time to finish by November 30?
Just noticed my novel stats are no longer available, drats! Oh well, I think my word count was about 54k on the 27th. I wasn't panicking, but I really wanted to get to 60k.
Name one thing you shafted all month in favor of participating in NaNo.
A lot of tumblr blogs. I tried to keep up with the people I talk with the most, but I knew that if I got too involved over there, I'd never finish on time. Which means I'll be pretty selective in my tumblr-ing all summer, since I'm doing both the inofficial camp in July and the official one in August.
Name one thing in which you indulged as a treat to keep yourself motivated and writing that you wouldn’t otherwise have done.
Reading fanfiction and watching interesting shows with my sister. Also, I went to a anime & game convetion. You can't write all the time, or your neck and arms start hurting and you get a headache.
Share a link to either your NaNo profile or a location on the internet where your story can be found. If someone offered to beta read for you, would you be willing to do the same for them during the subsequent editing process?
My NaNo profile for June. The first draft of the beginning scenes are also up on this journal, further back *too lazy to go searching and linking to it myself*.
Once the damn thing is done and I've read through it and edited some on my own, I would love it if someone would like to read through it and comment! I'm so attached to every word of this by now, since I've struggled to gather them all together for the word count, that I fear I'll keep far too much and forget to change stuff that needs changing.
Hopefully this will happen before the summer is out, but my hopes are low. Why are you so long, story? Why?!
