Pokedex Entry #21

[Dawn feels terrible right now.  She all but abandoned the KND treehouse when things started to look really grim, hightailing it back home before the hazmats started in full-force with the flamethrowers.  She's been huddling in her room terrified out of her mind with Buneary and Pachirisu ever since, and has finally started to go a little stir- ( Read more... )

she's only 10 for god's sake, event: better dead, this is terrible

[He'd like to call you out for just being a crybaby Dawn. But after his own demand to speak with someone yesterday after reviving from death? He really can't bring himself to.]

....Hey.

[It's refreshing to know that little kids tend to react the same way under stress. Gotta stick together.]

"H-hi, Pokey... I'm sorry I ran."

[She sounds pretty down on herself over it.]

...It's not a big deal. I haven't been back to the treehouse since about two days ago when I went to get something from my house and...

[Ended up getting burnt to death. He thinks he'll skip over that part, more for himself then for her.]

...I didn't want to attract attention by heading back to the treehouse, with the hazmats all over the town.

They've started burning peoples' houses down... I don't even feel safe here anymore. Not that my house is that safe to begin with.

Are you alright Dawn?

I-I'm fine. I'm still alive. But I'm so scared... I just want these guys to go away and leave us alone already.

That's understandable.

The world is a scary place at times...

Are there people in your house with you?

[And now you have to deal with Dawn just busting into hysterical tears over the phone lines. GOOD JOB, MISTY. :|]

[ She'll be joining you there, but .... she has to be strong. For Ash. For all of the trainers -- for everyone. ]

Hey, Dawn? ... You want to talk a bit?

Hey kid... uh...

You know what? ☠☠☠☠ it. I am not going to lie to you.

If you haven't died already, good. Keep on avoiding it. It is horrible and you'll remember the pain for a very long time.

Those that died are going to be pretty ☠☠☠☠. You don't have to be strong for them, you don't even have to able to do anything useful kid.

Knowing someone cares about them and someone will be there for them when they break will be a big help.

[That probably could have been said a lot better. Maybe next time without starting by scaring a kid.]

[Well, that did nothing to calm her down or make her stop crying, but at least some of those words vaguely approached supportive. So congratulations, Captain - Dawn isn't crying any harder than she was when you started talking. Baby steps.]

"Y-yeah... I guess so..."

There are enough ☠☠☠☠ out there pretending to be tough.

They are all going to break down eventually.

When they do they are going to feel alone...

So yeah, ☠☠☠☠ it. Cry your heart out, keep yourself safe and when this all blows over go out and give the other kids a hug or something.

[He's trying, seriously he is. Maybe one day he'll stop cursing at kids.]

"O-okay... thanks."

[And yeah, she's gonna keep right on crying.]
