Pokedex Entry #5: A Girl and Her Squirrel

[Dawn, who somehow miraculously managed to avoid most of the craziness of the past week, is just getting home from school for the day. There is a drone deliveryman waiting in front of her house, who approaches once he catches sight of the young trainer coming down the street.]

"Excuse me... is your name Dawn Minamimoto?""Er... yeah, that's me

[Waves, assuming Kaguya makes her presence known.]

Can I pet it?

"Sure! He's just a little excitable, that's all."

[Dawn leans down and pats the hyper little squirrel on the head, trying to calm it down a little.]

"Now you be good, okay? Don't go zapping strangers!"

[Pachirisu gives an enthusiastic nod and a big smile, harmless little sparks crackling cheerfully off its fur.]

"Yeah! This little guy's a Pachirisu. They're electric squirrels."

[She pokes Pachirisu's cheek, prompting an adorable squeal and another little blue crackle.]

"They store up electricity in their cheeks, and shoot it out of their tails. This one's pretty hyperactive, so he gets a little carried away sometimes."

Hmm...to risk being shocked, or to not risk being shocked....

"Nah, he won't hurt you! Pachirisu's really friendly, and now that he's calmed down a little bit, I'm sure it'll be just fine. No need to worry! Isn't that right?"

[She cuddles Pachirisu as the little squirrel cheerfully rubs its face up against Dawn's.]

[But Kaguya is weird!]

I want to be shocked!

[Tries to grab it and pet it]

"Uh, well, if you're sure..."

[Pachirisu will happily let itself be picked up and cuddled by Kaguya without threat of random shocks. However...]

"Pachirisu, Spark attack!"

[The little guy looks confused for a moment, but then nods cheerfully at Dawn as it gathers electricity up in its cheeks and lets it loose all at once, shocking Kaguya with blue lightning. Dawn, for her own part, just winces and peers at the two of them out of one eye.]

[Kaguya is shocked...including hair standing up.]

Hmm...[She feels her hair]

I want to do it again, but I should put this down first.

[Laughs sort of nervously.]

"Yeah, that's usually how I look after that happens too..."

"Chupaaaaaaa!"

[Pachirisu seems pleased with itself.]
