they looked out at the antenna farm, the red blinking lights jutting out here and there amongst the hills.
-is this where you come at night?
-it reminds me of being back home, she said. the first place i remember living after my parents were gone. the room was tiny and cramped but we had a window, and our neighborhood, shitty as it was, was at the top of a hill. so there was something to look at at night. all you'd see were the red neon crosses on top of every building. from the churches crammed in amongst the billiards halls and jumbo pork cutlet places. i'd watch the crosses flicker. you could almost sense a pattern if you watched long enough.
-they're probably gone now. or LED.
