3 week in one post!

Haven't had the time to post for ages. School and then general laziness got in the way.

My school holidays started this week! Which is fun cause it mainly involves me on the computer 24/7. It does however, mean I have to study because the brainiacs at my school decided my year's 'half-yearlies' should be on the first week of Term 2. What part of half-yearly do they not get?

TV
On the TV front, I've hooked a friend onto One Tree Hill. She's watched 2 1/2 seasons in a week!. That's about 4 episodes a day! I've started watching Dark Angel, in exchange for my sister reading The Chosen even though she was supposed to read it in exchange for me watching OTH 4 years ago *eyeroll*. It's weird seeing Jessica Alba before she became a crap actress. I mean, have you seen Fantastic 4? The show's pretty good if a little dated. It's like a parade of people before they were famous (ie Michael Weatherly).

Torchwood
I haven't posted any thoughts on Torchwood but I loved the finale, despite Gray being the worst actor ever. I'm taking the whole 'Jack was buried underground for thousands of years and didn't go insane' thing in stride, I mean pick a fanwank and go with it. Tosh and Owen's deaths (which I was somewhat spoilt for) were sad, especially with all of the wasted potential in the characters. Rhys and Andy were a hoot and I loved how they've become a part of Gwen's Torchwood life. It's rather fortunate Gwen was late for work, otherwise the whole team would've been stuck under the blownup warehouse. Which begs the question; Why were there only four bombs when there are five Torch-ies? Seeing Cardiff in flames really made the finale epic and I love what Chris Chibnall has done with the whole series. He's improved on everything people hated about S1 and made the show watchable and enjoyable.

Movies
In movies, I've watched Rescue Dawn (heh, not Buffy-related), Horton Hears a Who and Empire Records. Liked all of them, especially Empire Records which is another one I've seen bits and pieces of before. Horton was a pleasant surprise. The whole thing was very funny and some of the surreal scenes (one word: anime) were hilarious. My sister posed an interesting question; why have the other (crap-tacular) Seuss adaptions (Cat in the Hat, The Grinch) been live-action? Wouldn't it be your instinct to go with animation? Some strange logic there...

Music
I downloaded the new Death Cab single, 'I Will Possess You Heart', which grew on me. At first I wasn't too sure on the four minute intro, but I totally love the song now. The video clip is pretty cool but it must've been a bitch to jet the girl and film crew to all of those locations. The drumming with water flying everywhere was very pretty and all the freezer shots in general.

Fanart
I've made some episode posters for 'The Chosen'. It's a Buffy Virtual Continuation that I've plugged here before in one of my Required Reading posts. They've let me challenge myself in terms of composition, image selection and concepts. Aaaaand I'm listening to one of The Chosen commentaries, and it's hilarious. Anyway, go read it, it's the best Buffy continuation I've ever read and you'll ever read.

I've made some pieces for BuffyForums challenges that I quite like: Across the Universe and Tragedy. I watched Across the Universe recently, and it's a freaking brilliant film that everyone must watch. The songs and design and acting are just superb. I tried to reflect the whole 60s feel of the movie in the wallpaper (which is in 1280x1024 cause I wanted to use it). Tragedy was my attempt at making a textless piece that communicates movement and emotion through the composition and images.

Pheeew. That was a LONG post.
