Do new media forms necessitate a rethinking of the media communication theories that were developed in the broadcast era?

* need to contrast and compare the two eras
* now we are experiencing same increase in technology as previous ‘era’
Radio
Tv
Computers / internet

New media forms

News
Internet - online, email, blogs etc
*how have new media forms altered ideology? - mirror with broadcast era

compare to changes with broadcast era - 3 sections: before broadcast, broadcast, now - do changes need making??

Media communication theories
(developed in broadcast era)
Wks 5, 6, 7, 8? (politics)
Wk 11 - views of new media
Wk 10 - intertextuality of media over ‘eras’
6- audiences, already developed thru passive/active over years
5 - media effects (susceptible to ‘brainwashing’ reflecting both back then and now)

There is never anything black and white in this industry, its all developing. If there are any changes they’d spawn from pre-existing ideologies*

UGH
