i am so bitter right now. i know i'm the only one around me besides my dad who gets so emotionally attached to a sport, but i can't help it!!! they've been there for me when i've needed them most, but they are SUCKING IT BIG right now.

:::deep breath:::

my dad and i spontaneously decided to go to a Marlins vs. Mariners game tonight, and it started out amazing. beckett came out today and got four strike-outs in a row and shut out the best hitter in the game. we beat seattle last night, but barely, and Carlos Delgado drove in all 5 runs (fabulous for him, but embarassing as a team). currently as a team, they're slumping offensively - and even though we've generally held our own defensively, no one's ever won a game without scoring runs. anyway, they tease me by making a great start, they falter in the third when beckett gave up a homerun. but then were just massacred in the top of the seventh. there were 2 outs, and we gave up SEVEN RUNS!!!! i could absolutely spit with disgust.

Gentlemen...

AT LEAST PLAY LIKE YOU ENJOY THE SALARY YOU GET PAID TO JUST SHOW UP!!!!

honestly, it sucks that baseball is so expensive, but it's worth it when you see a team who comes out every game with intensity. they don't need to win every one, because then it wouldn't be interesting. but we didn't even get onto SECOND BASE!

i can't. i have no words!!!!!!!

Dear Marlins,

In the last half of April, I was going through a major slump. My show had just ended, so emotionally I was devastated. I had just gotten over a very bad illness that took a great portion of flesh and energy out of my body, so physically I was drained. Finals were coming up and I had a huge film project due, so mentally I was unmotivated. Overall, I was exhausted. I was blessed with MLB.TV and was able to watch you every day. You were glorious at the start of the season. Now it's like baseball games interrupt your day and the better things you were doing hours earlier. What happened?? You were World Champs just two years ago! Come back! Ok. You were there to bring me cheer through my major slump. I shall remain faithful to you during your major league slump. But please... for the sake of my blood pressure and my father's high triglycerites.... PLEASE play like you love it. Because I love you. All the fans love you.

Play Hard. Get Dirty. And as the great baseball prayer goes, "Dear Lord, may our feet be swift. May our bats be mighty. And may our balls be plentiful. Amen."

Go Fish.
Katie May Merriman
