I'm enjoying my second multi day weekend this weekend, thanks to the cats. Which is sorely needed, considering work is currently doing it's best to eat my head. On toast. With occasional jam and butter.
To rewind, last week the cats kept leaving me signs that one of them needed to go the vet right away, but it was impossible to tell which one due to the fact that they kept leaving these signs in the wrong litter box (apparently after I clean one goes and marks a box for themselves, which isn't always the same box they had before, and the other just goes with it) and then outside the box. So after getting assurance that no, it wasn't crazy cat lady behavior to use one of the many free days I have saved up in order to take the cats to the vet (thanks, mom), I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. Boy cat had tapeworms, which were thankfully taken care of with a simple shot. Girl cat was completely fine,as she was at her yearly checkup in early August, and was not happy at all to be dragged yet again to be poked and prodded at. She forgave me after I produced a new toy for her to play with, along with ample cuddle time over the weekend.
It ended up being fortuitous timing, since it also allowed me to hit up the library book sale wherein the library pretty much decided to clean out all of the graphic novels. I walked away with the entire Fruits Basket series and all of Holly Black's The Good Neighbors series, among many others, while the library got a donation for their summer reading programs, so I count that as a win for all.
Thanksgiving went much better than expected. Miraculously no one decided to bring up politics, so we just ate extreme amounts of food and had a good time all around.
The goals of this long weekend are to consume and create. Read all the of the books in my massive to be read stack. Watch all of the movies I have waiting for me. Do all of the household chores I've been neglecting. Write all of the unfinished fanfic sitting around on my hard drive. In short, I'm going to practice self care all weekend in preparation for the coming week.
