I had a paper due in my Dante class. Typical situation: you write a rough draft, get it corrected and peer-edited and then turn in a final draft. My peer editor happened to also work as a real editor (lucky me), so I got a lot of good criticism, and my girlfriend happens to have an english degree.

While keeping these things in mind, allow me to continue my story.

After spending a substantial amount of time on my final draft, I turn it in, and upon receiving the final graded copy, turn to the final page to see "this is actually inferior to your rough draft...what happened?" and my grade was actually lower than it was on my rough draft. This is fine, except for the fact that I really think my final draft is _good_, and this makes getting an A in the class a statistical improbability. I'm supposed to talk to him in his office hours about it (apparently it was so bad that I need to do this or something, it is his idea to meet and discuss it), and I'm wondering if I should even state my opinion about my final draft not being, you know, a piece of garbage. One way or the other, I'm pretty upset about it; the worst thing in life is to try very hard only to fail miserably anyways.
