Notes: Everybody should be watching this I'm not even kidding you.
SPOILERS: Not really that would be besides the point.
THE PLOT
Scott and Bailey centers around Detective Constable Rachel Bailey (Suranne Jones) and Detective Constable Janet Scott (Lesley Sharp) of the Manchester Metropolitan Major Incident Team (MIT). So yes it's a cop show. That for me alone is reason enough to watch it. It's a cop show with strong female leads and unlike Rizzoli & Isles I buy them as best friends and just that. THEY ARE TOTALLY BBFs.
SUBTLE? #NOTSOMUCH
Nicholas Gleaves and Lesley Sharp are married in real life and that just makes it more fun to watch these two characters. If you want to know more about Andy and how relates to Janet Scott you have to watch the show because that's all you're gonna get from me.

WE DRINK A LOT
I always appreciate a show that let's it lead characters come of as borderline alcoholics which applies more to Rachel than it applies to Janet.
THE BREAK-UP
NICK: Did you actually get washed before you get to work.
RACHEL: Yes.
NICK: Where?
RACHEL: At work.
NICK: And you wore the same clothes all day that you'd worn the day before.
RACHEL: Are you implying that I'm unhygienic?
NICK: We shouldn't have gotten into this.
THE CONVERSATION
RACHEL: He's finished with me.
JANET: What?
RACHEL: Nick dumbed me.
JANET: When?
RACHEL: Day before yesterday.
JANET: Why?
RACHEL: I'm boring.
JANET: He didn't say that.
RACHEL: And unhygienic. He didn't say that either but you know...
JANET: Are you alright.
RACHEL: No.
These are just two of the examples why this show is well written.
BRITISH SHOWS ARE JUST GENERALLY REALLY PRETTY
WASHROOMS
This is a show about lady cops so yeah most of their important conversations happen in washrooms. In particular at the station.
STAIRS
The other location for important conversations are the stairs and yes this another one for the category of THIS SHOW IS SO PRETTY.
HUMOR
JANET: Clever bitch!
RACHEL: ...
JANET: Her! Not you... not that you aren't... clever... obviously...
RACHEL: Or a bitch?!
KEVIN: Yeah, keep digging Scotty.
FACES
JANET SCOTT: Life is short and then: Oh shit you die.
Everybody should watch this show and if you don't well... oh well I tried to convince you.
