What does it all mean and why do we do it?

In my better moments, I can ignore the voices, the doubts and the questions and just push forward without wondering.

In the worse moments, I think, and I ponder and I dwell.

Why do we get up every day, why do we work, communicate, eat and sleep? For what? What is the goal, the reason, a purpose.

Love, money, power, prestige? Where is all that once we die? Maybe someone remembers our name, what we did, whether we cared, but we don't, we'll be gone, ashes, or compost, but certainly not conscious.

In movies and TV, you see people on death's doorstep, either fighting to stay alive, someone or something so important that they keep fighting, or conversely, sometimes it's just this image of someone just giving up and then poof, they are gone.

It's as if life is so tenuous that if we decide there's just no reason, that our natural tendency is to slide into death, and only holding on to something keeps us alive.

As I mentioned before, it's probably just as well that no one uses LJ anymore, so there's no one to read this. Which kind of makes it like it's namesake, a journal. Maybe something best just for ourselves.
