Jonathan and Warren don't trust Tucker. They seemed skeptical. They were totally Scully-ing him the whole time he was at the lair. But I couldn't help but be in awe. My brother is using magic. REAL magic, not the stuff that Jonathan plays around with and often screws up ( Read more... )

I turn at the sound of Andrew's voice.

Well, this IS a pleasant surprise. His little group seemed less than eager to help me, and I thought that they had totally absorbed my brother into their fold, yet here he is.

...and that final statement. Music to my ears.

"I'm glad to hear that Andrew, cause I'd love to teach you."

I reach into the folds of my coat and produce the Orb that I had taken with me to the lair earlier.

"As a matter of fact, first lesson is now."

I grin.

"We have work to do."

I teach out and take the glass orb from Tucker. It is cool to the touch, and I feel so...awesome holding it.

It's like that little glass ball that David Bowie played with in Labyrinth...but this was better, cause this was REAL magic. Not just some Muppet Jim Henson Creature shop mumbo jumbo.

"What...what do I do?"

I look at Tucker eagerly.

"Very little for this one, actually, consider this your starter spell."

I hate to use my brother for such a grand scheme, but really...I need the help, and he's all I've got in ways of assistance at the moment.

I reach into my other pocket and produce a small sandwich baggie of the necessary herbs. I notice Andrew's eyes widen, and I shake my head.

"It's not those kinds of herbs, Andy. Here, give me the orb, and you take these. You'll be burning them."

I take the orb in my hand and pass the herbs over.

"Now take those out of the bag, and listen carefully as I tell you some terms in Latin, you have to memorize them."

I notice Andrew's eyes never leave me the entire time I speak.

The Latin terms fill my head, and I have problems repeating them back to Tucker at first, but he won't let me continue until I have it just right.

I feel kind of like Spartacus or whatever. Ok...so I never actually saw the movie, but I did hear about that bathtub scene with Tony Curtis and the other guy and how controversial it was. Not that that kind of stuff matters to me...but yeah, I'm sure they spoke Latin.

"Is that good? Do I have it?"

...and when Tucker nods, he motions that we sit down on the ground, so I sit indian style on the ground like we used to in kindegarten and lean my back against the nearest headstone, and sigh.

This was SO exciting.
