RL with Maggie-san

So soon after returning to the Soul Society; Toshiro found himself 'trapped' (as he would put it, anyway) on that community. Strange... so many nice people there; yet at the same time...

Well, that was the exact reason why he had to return to the world of the living. Though, not his 'own'; anyway. He carefully coordinated plots - where some of the ( Read more... )

"I am not... trying to be a stalker?" he was only vaguely familiar with the term anyway; they didn't have those sorts of issues back at the Soul Society. Byakuya did have quite the masses of fangirls; however.

Toshiro's small fingers strummed on his knees, and slowly he slid back, pulling his knees to his chest and listened to her, attentively. His body reflexively jerked when she poked his arm, and he scowled up at her with a blink.

"Oh, well-! Ah, the body you see now isn't my real body. It's a Gigai. A gigai is an artificial body that allows Shinigami to be seen in the living world. It can function and move exactly like a real human body could! Except; it isn't real. Including blood flow and everything. So for the mean time; I'm just like you, Maggie." he smiled softly; relaxing only a little.

"The Exorcist...? An Exorcist is one who exorcises bad souls right? So; yes. Like that. There are many hollows that before going to Hueco Mundo; they stay in the world of the living and pray on human souls. Devouring them up. One - to hundreds at a time. It is our job to help them; and guide them to the right path."

"That's comforting." She said, giving him a little smile.

...Jeez, could he be any more adorable? She wanted to give him hugs. He reminded her of her old best friends little brother.

"Sorry about that. So..." She shifted forward, a little excited. "Can Ggio or Grimmy do this? Be all solid? I want to meet them, too. Ggio talked about sending me something to up my ...'spiritual awareness' but he hasn't had a chance yet."

"It's a movie, but yeah the guy in the movie gets the demon out of the little girl. Sounds similar to...that."

"I never heard of anything like that... what sort of something..? ...Well I guess you wouldn't know. Actually... I'm not sure if an Arrancar could use a Gigai... I really don't see why not actually... I could break free of my Gigai right now. Right here and you'd just have the body laying around. Well; actually the Gigai has his own personality too you see..." He was rambling now of course; and when he realized he had gotten quite off track he glanced up nervously with a smirk.

"I'm sorry. That isn't what you asked. I guess they could. Maybe. No Arrancar has never needed to. They wouldn't be able to get their hands on one; that's for sure. And as for that movie; yes. It's exactly like that. Except these souls aren't in anyway. They're just... here; and they're haunted. We free them from well... themselves; as sad as that is."

"Uh...I dunno if I'm supposed to tell you? It's something of his," She looked thoughtful, then decidedly FREAKED OUT at his last statement. "Ew! Ew gross! Don't do that, I don't want a corpse laying in here! Ugh!"

She shook her head, her face wearing a disgusted expression.

"Well...could you like...show them how? Or tell me so I can tell them?" She sounded excited now. "That movie scared me as a kid."

"Huh..?? Oh! No, no! It isn't like that! It won't be dead! You see... the bodies are just... well they'd be like.. deflated balloons! But... most Gigai are actually their own personalities too. When I'm in the living world on missions... and need to use them; there are times when I have to leave that body to revert back into a Shinigami. My gigai must then take it upon itself to find safety.

They're wise ... um.. m-maybe a bit silly too." Chappy, was quick to come to mind. Very popular with female shinigami.

"I don't know about that!! I'll think about it!" he wanted to change the subject. The thought of Arrancar wandering around streets as people was a little worrying to him. Back to that movie, it seemed to excite her. "There isn't anything scary about saving souls Maggie. Sure it's dangerous but ... its actually quite sad."

Clearly he had no idea what The Exorcist was.

"...Oh my FUCKING GOD, you mean it would look like a DEFLATED corpse?! Oh, GROSS!" Maggie was really squicked out now, her face twisting into an expression of disgust. "And not only that, it will GET UP AND LEAVE?!"

She shook her hands, trying to calm herself.

"It would be great if you could show Ggio." She looked eager. "And Grimmy."

..."Have you actually seen the Exorcist?"

"Fine okay okay I'll think about it.. but they don't like me at all... a-and no it isn't like that either! Um... when I leave, they'll probably stumble a bit, but they're very nice. I think mine is a bit... well, quirky... is the word. They're very nice though." he smiled at her, and shook his head nervously, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck nervously.

"No? I've never seen any movies, actually. Certainly not your sort!"

"Oh MY GOD." She was staring at him with her jaw hanging open. "What the fuck?!" She closed her jaw with a snap, and held up her hands.

"Okay. Movies. You haven't seen any? Really? Want to watch one?"

It didn't seem like Maggie was very close to understand the full concept behind a Gigai. Toshiro didn't quite understand it - but he didn't understand a lot of things humans didn't get.

"Really! Really. A lot of us don't stay long to think about watching movies when we come here... I wonder if any even know of-- uh watch one? Okay - like what?"

She wasn't going to get it, that whole concept was fucking WEIRD.

"Well, there's a few things we can watch. It depends on what you like. Romance, comedy, adventure, drama. I've got a ton of movies. Bought them all when I got the TV." She gestured to the large, flat screen TV she had bought recently.

Oh god you're killing me you don't have any idea XD nomoarcandy_plz May 24 2009, 07:58:13 UTC
"Oh... like back at Inoue's... we had something like this that could communicate with Yamamoto-Genryūsai Taichou back at the Soul Society... hm." It didn't even occur to him that half of that could have sounded like complete nonsense; Toshiro got up and walked over to the television, siting in front of it and peeking around the sides, then at the cables... ...definitely not the same. He sat back again in front of the screen, pushing buttons.

"You cannot watch them all at once, right? You must have a lot of time to watch them all? " Toshiro kept looking around, small fingers running over surfaces of all kinds; all ending with him going back to sitting on his legs in front of the large screen. "You pick, because I have no idea."

...

She stared at him while he chattered utter nonsense at her, then shrugged.

"Yeah just like that."

She stood up and made her way over to sit next to him looking thoughtful.

"Nope, can't watch them all at once. Unless you have a bunch of TVs, but then that would probably get confusing. Okay, how about...a combination. Indiana Jones is a classic combination of humor and adventure. There's four of them, but they aren't totally reliant on seeing them in chronological order."

"I trust your judgment Maggie-san." he smiled at her now, watching her. Her world was comfortable. Her home, that was. He looked around as he nodded to her suggestion, trying to pick up on her character from the things he saw.

Usually he wouldn't bother spending time doing such idle things as just sitting around watching a film of someone else's life; but Maggie seemed so inviting, and so willing to let him into her home and relax.

He was starting to feel a bit guilty.

"Okay, we'll go with that. We'll start with the first one, you get to meet him and Marian, she's in later movies. Hm... Is she in the third as well as the fourth...?" She was mumbling to herself as she fiddled with the TV, putting the DVD in and then hopping back up.

"Oh! I forgot your tea; hope the water hasn't boiled up..." Oops. She went into the kitchen, and yep, the water was boiling but not overflowing, thankfully. Once situated and the pot was removed from the stove, she brought it back out to him with a triumphant little grin. She didn't burn the building down in her attempt.

"It's raspberry, it's all I have. Hope that's okay. I have sugar if you want that, too." She gestured. "And you don't have to sit on the floor if you don't want to, you can sit on the couch."

"It's fine, I'm not picky." he smiled as she brought him the tea, small hands taking the cup and brought it close, giving it a small sniff. "I can't say I've had raspberry tea before... but I'm sure it's good. We mostly have green tea back at the soul society though ... when I was staying with Inoue she made some... pretty interesting things..."

Vivid memories of Orange-zest eel soup and cranberry ginger tomato juice. And those were the more "gentle" of dishes. Orihime definitely had a sense of taste no one else did; except, maybe Rangiku.

Toshiro looked back up at her as she told him he could sit back on the couch, and he set his tea down to gently pull his shoes from his feet and set them aside. Those sneakers were pretty uncomfortable; and he wasn't sure how humans dealt with them. He'd take walking around in his tabi any day.

He picked up his cup and sat back on the couch, occasionally glancing from Maggie to the television after she put in the DVD.

did you mess with the layout again? :o h4ck3r_61rl May 27 2009, 18:43:51 UTC
“Great! Hopefully you’ll like it, then.” Once everything is set up, TV is on, DVD is in place, she heads back to sit on the couch as well. “Oooh, I can make popcorn, later too. Have you ever had popcorn?” Maggie loves popcorn, is it obvious?

She kicked her feet up and rested them on the coffee table, a habit she’d always had that her mother hated.
