Wow... that's basically the only word used to describe what I just saw! That was amazing, truly amazing! I wish everyone could have been there to witness it because I'm sure that most of you music fanatics would have felt the exact same way. I just went to a Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra performance, going there half expecting to see a symphony and listening to music that would have almost made me fall asleep but in other directions it went! They were accompanied by Pierre Schryer's Band! This was a band of mad playing fiddle/guitar/piano/step-dancing/whistles/French Canadian foot percussion/mandolin/bass/bouzouki/bodhràn/hammered whistles/vocals! Oh my, so entertaining! The band members carried with them such humour and classic melodies that made you want to get out of your seat and get up on stage and start rockin' with them! The lead singer of the band, Pierre Schryer, was my favorite character out of all of them... he brought with him this smell onto the stage, not too strong but just enough to keep the audience constantly captivated. He was such a little guy but showed such power and enthusiasm that he brought this aura to the stage. His movements were so simple yet so striking that it almost made it seem like I knew all about him before I've ever even met him because he carried such presence and character. He carried with him this unique smile that I'm sure attracted everyone! It was literally infectious! When he looked at and played with his wife, who was by the way a wonderful trumpet player, he showed such love and it just gave you this feeling inside that made you want to go up there and hug him! He played it all out for the audience too: he made every step ten times stronger and more powerful so that we could all get the kick out of it that he thought he could bring to us. Everytime he smiled to the orchestra or to his band members he carried it on throughout the whole crowd! Every little movement and detail that they did seemed to happen just at the right moment and made it all seem just so right; their curls bouncing to he beat/rhythm of the music, the culture in each piece that ripped right through your whole body, the dancing/tapping feet, their heads bobbing and the clicking noise that they made when they spoke, the words they used (accesorizing), Pierre's eyes that when he smiled shrank and almost disappeared... They just showed such feel and such heart in their music. I felt like I was in a place where time didn't seem to be of any issue. I could have died right then and there and felt so complete because the music just portrays such strong feelings of extreme happiness.
