So, as you may all recall, I've been going sans heat all winter, relying on space heaters. It's been less than cozy and comfortable for the last cold spell, but I've been managing. Anyway, last night, at 4am, the house fire alarm went off. So, after waking up wondering if my clock radio had malfunctioned and was on blasting static or if my space heater had caused a fire, I climbed out of bed, shivering and bleary eyed, sniffing for signs of fire, and found my neighbors all in the back stairwell in their pjs. One of my neighbors said this happened in the middle of the day once this winter when she was home and she thinks it gets set off by the extreme cold. She was the only one who knew how to turn it off.
Has anyone heard of this absurdity? I'm not doubting her, but how odd!
And, by the way, it went off another 3 times and I didnt get back to sleep till probably 5:30. My poor neighbor who had to run up and down to the basement 5 times.
