Dean Winchester swore if he heard "The Day Teddy Met Grubby" one more time, he was going to go insane. He was all for his brother reading more because, well, he'd been held back a year in school after his mom's death and all, but there was only so much an eight-year-old could take of the same three stories over and over and over and over again.

He was going to kill Teddy Ruxpin one night. He dreamed about it on a regular basis. His dad had shown him the guns, but he wouldn't need those. In his dreams, the boy dreamed of twisting off its neck, but he knew well enough that it wouldn't actually stop the stories. So while his dreams involved snapping off that talking teddy bear's head, his plans involved wire cutters, mismatched batteries, an accidental toss out the Impala's window.

Anything, really.

Anything to kill that stupid bear.

But the problem? Sammy loved it. He loved that the bear read his stories. It had been a gift from some lady at Pastor Jim's church. She was ancient, about their dad's age, and kept trying to give them weird tasting casseroles and toys. Dean thought she liked their dad, even Sammy thought she liked their dad, and he was still little enough not to be so perceptive about those things.

Last time they'd been in, she'd given Dean a couple of transformers, not the cheap knock-offs either. These ones he could actually use several times without worrying they would break. Even Sammy could play with them without destroying them. And that was saying something, because his little brother never got all the parts folded and bent the way they were supposed to go.

Dean's gift had been awesome, and maybe, just maybe, it might have won him to the woman's camp just a bit. But then she'd given Sammy his furry companion, and that was it. She made an enemy in Dean Winchester and he was going to make sure she never, ever so much as got a smile from his dad.

After all, if the woman was trying to impress them with her money, since she was able to buy Sammy a Teddy Ruxpin like it was nothing, then why the hell hadn't she bought him more than three books and tapes? Dean swore if he had to hear those high pitched little fob things sing along with the bear about being "proud to be me," he was going to scream.

Sammy had liked the Care Bears for a while, but had stopped once Dean had told him how wussy they were. Their dad hunts monsters and his brother wants to watch a show about colorful little bears that live in a place called Care-a-lot? Really?

He glanced over at his brother, singing along to the talking/singing/moving bear and he wished so, so much that he hadn't been so hard on the Care Bears. At least those things were just normal stuffed toys and didn't move around like some possessed or cursed object. They weren't creepy with an extra side of disturbing.

And maybe, just maybe, the worst part of all of this was that Sammy was going to be four, and Dean had just enough money saved up to get him a great gift. So what was he going to spend it on? A fourth tape for that stupid bear, not because he knew his brother loved it and not because he thought it was a great present for his kid brother's birthday.

He just couldn't take one more hour of just those three tapes playing back to back to back in the rear seat of the Impala, and even if all he could only add one more to that list, it had to be better than just three.

And Sammy would cry a whole lot less than if he cut all the wires that made that freaky possessed bear work
