[second_first]

[Rei is walking along the hall, coming down from the roof with a book and a pencil in her hands. She turns a corner and sees Bagheera from a distance.

She stops walking, but she isn't afraid. More like nonplussed. She watches him for a moment before coming closer.]

[nomansplaything]

[Bagheera spots the girl and freezes himself, bright yellow eyes huge as he eyes her, unsure if she is friend or foe...

As she approaches, his eyes remain intense, but his body relaxes slightly. This female Man-cub seems rather honest in her intentions. There is a very un-Man-like energy about her...]

[second_first]

[Rei stops again several feet from him, then slowly crouches down, knees together, looking at him. She sets her book and pencil on the floor, but otherwise stays in that position silently, watching Bagheera.]

[nomansplaything]

[Bagheera steps toward her, body fluid and eyes calm. He stops just in front of her and sits. They are almost exactly at each other's eye level.

He admires the pale Man-cub's boldness, if anything.]

[second_first]

[Moving slowly, but not hesitantly, Rei holds out one hand. She's not used to animals, but she thinks you're supposed to let them smell you.]

[nomansplaything]

[Not that he needs to smell her hand, but he does anyway.

Then he sits back, regarding her with kind eyes.]

You have to be the palest colored Man-cub I have ever seen.

[second_first]

[If Rei is surprised at hearing him speak, it doesn't show outside of her eyes widening JUST slightly.

She lowers her hand again.]

You are very dark.

[nomansplaything]

[He dips his head.]

I thank you. I am fond of my pelt, if you will forgive my vanity.

Is this your home, Man-cub?

[second_first]

For now.

It is yours, too. For now.

[nomansplaything]

[He tilts his head, speaking softly to her.]

What do you mean, little Man-cub?

[second_first]

[Rei's voice is always soft.]

We can not choose to leave.

[nomansplaything]

[He suddenly feels as though he's swallowed a stone.]

Who keeps us here? And how did we come to be here? I cannot remember.

[second_first]

I do not either. We just are.

[nomansplaything]

[He sighs. He doesn't understand, but he can accept this. Oh, the glory of being without the burdens of a human's overactive mind.

He smiles a little, wanting to be friendly.]

So what do we do here, then?

[second_first]

Live.

[She curls her fingers around the hem of her skirt and then relaxes them again.]

I am Rei.

[nomansplaything]

[The movement of her fingers catches his attention momentarily.

Looking back to her, he... gets as close to as smile as a leopard possibly can without looking absolutely terrifying.]

I am Bagheera.

I think Man's definition of living differs from that of a leopard. What do you do to live in this place, dear Rei?

[It can be noted that, with his regal British accent, he rolls the "R" in Rei's name.]
