The Glastonbury Extravaganza 08-08-08

Last night we were guests of Glastonbury Festivals at their Glastonbury Extravaganza event, and we took along our new official photographer Laura Zaky to get some shots of the artistes on stage.

Lulu and Squeeze were both brilliant and I enjoyed watching them on stage immensely. Backstage afterwards all were happy to chat to me and Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze remembered me from the Glastonbury Festival and was very chatty (he seems a really nice guy!)

Chris Difford from Squeeze told me has has family roots in Meare near Glastonbury, and apparently a search of the graveyard will show a number of Difford's! I said "can we expect to see you down here too soon then?" and he replied "yes but hopefully not underground" lol. He then went on to see that he could actually see himself living in this lovely area!

Their keyboard player Steve has his own Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/lordlarge. He too is a really nice guy and great on stage!

Talented bass player John Bentley who replaced my old mate Harry Kakoulli in Squeeze in the early days, was also very chatty and told me how the music he listens to these days is inspired by the likes of his daughter who was with him backstage last night.   Check out John's MySpace HERE

Lulu meanwhile has lost none of that wonderful energy on stage and still is one of our greatest vocal talents. She was joined twice on stage by vocalist Jimmy Smith who was "over here on holiday" and they did a couple of brilliant duets.

One surprise was being asked to meet Lady Amber Leighton, a lovely lady from Somerton who it turns out is the mother of film Director Guy Ritchie and of course "mother-in-law" to a certain pop singer called Madonna!

It was a great night and everyone so friendly. I have a feeling that backstage may not be as friendly tonight for youngsters The Feeling and Kate Nash but we will see! Looking forward to The Feeling's set though!
