The future of Radio (and ME I guess lol)

Apr 05, 2008 13:53

Some years ago I was ridiculed by so called “media experts” in various forums, for saying that radio’s future was online, and that Internet radio would overtake DAB.

Well look now, a few years on, DAB is failing badly and is being likened to the BETAMAX of radio against Internet radio’s VHS! FM stations are being sold, their advertising is down, whilst more advertisers and agencies move their budgets online.

Trouble is, as I dared to “buck the system” and argue with people in high-up positions on FM networks, its unlikely that I will ever be offered an FM job in the UK now, despite how good my show is and that I am am always being told that this programme deserves a place on UK FM networks.

We are often told that “speaking out is dangerous” and that we should all keep quiet and run with the system, well I have just one word for people who think like that - “BOL***KS!” I have never done that and have no intention of starting now lol! The whole idea of my show Now THAT’S Weird is to state it as it is, and let everyone have a fair chance to state their case.

I still believe that I will end up employed on a US FM network and probably one day living out there, but that may yet be some time away, but I may well have to BUY the damn network to get the opportunity!

I am probably a thorn in a lot of peoples sides because of my outspoken views, and I know that and LOVE it lol! Wouldn’t change that for the world! I don’t like “the system” I don’t approve of the government’s handling of our affairs, I think many laws that are being forced upon us by the governments WE vote in, are taking the bloody p**s, and think I’ll form a Dictatorship with me in charge lol!

Seriously though - we need to stop being “quiet Brits” who whinge and wine down the local pub but do sod all about it! Be a man (or woman lol!) stand up and be counted regardless of the dangers or outcome and let’s make a better world for our kids!
