A new voting system for the UK?

Mar 23, 2009 10:54

I have been rattling on for some time about what a poor job this government is doing running our country, but now someone has put their money where their mouth is and set up a website that may change the whole face of voting in the UK.

On my show on Friday, my live guest on the phone was Sir Paul Judge who has set up www.juryteam.org a web-page that allows YOU to put yourself forward as a candidate to be an MP or MEP and have people vote for you online. If chosen to represent your area/constituency, you will stand on behalf of Jury Team.

Sir Paul says this is "parties withour politics" a chance for independent candidates to stand with the backing of a large organisation, but with their own views and to make sure that the public get referendums on important issues like the EEC and currency reform etc.

I think Sir Paul has a great idea here and am considering standing myself possibly as an MEP - as I would like to bring my own kind of noise to the European Parliament lol! (They'd love me wouldn't they lol)

As you all know, I want to take the UK government to court over the one-sided extradition treaty with the USA but still need another £4000 to meet the initial "fighting fund target" requested by Bindmans Solicitors :( (You can donate at http://nowthatsweird.co.uk/viewpage.php?page_id=48 by Paypal or credit card etc)

I will make my voice heard, it may take a while to get the ear of the masses, but once they realise how important some of these issues are, I am certain I will get the support I need to make this happen!
