The UK shivers whilst Oz burns......

Have you noticed that the words "global warming" seemed to have been replaced on the news by "climate change"?

A while back during a heated debate on Glastonbury Radio between the head of the Transition Towns movement and Ian R Crane, the argument was made that the Earth is not "warming" but in fact "cooling" - something that was ridiculed by TT supporters at the time. But now it seems scientists are not certain enough to say either cooling OR warming lol! (Although the consensus seems to be towards global cooling)

Here in the UK the Met Office tell us we are about to suffer a few days of "arctic conditions" with heavy snow and plummeting temperatures. They are now saying than this may turn out to be one of the "coldest winters on record"!!

Now forgive my cynicism but is the same Met Office that predicted "one of the mildest winters on record" only a few months ago?

Meanwhile in Australia people are dying in the heatwave!

I think we all must admit now that the seasons are changing and that the climate is in some kind of disarray but as I shivered walking around Glastonbury today I did think for a moment, well it is only just February and we always used to get our coldest snap and snow in January and February so how much of a REAL change is that? Maybe we have just become too used to having milder winters in recent years? In Australia it is mid-summer so is a heatwave really that unexpected?

Whatever your opinion, I'm building a wood fire and am planning to snuggle up in front of it whilst you lot read this and argue over the rights and wrongs lol!

Happy Imbulc! (If that's how you spell it!)
