Ethan's birthday party was this weekend... and also, since Brittany's friend Katrina's stepmom was in a near-fatal accident last weekend, she's staying with us this weekend, too.
This morning we all went to Laser Quest for Ethan's birthday, which was totally fun.
The drive there ended up being sort of jinxed. Keith took Ethan, and the girls and I had to pick up the cake and was going to meet them at the laser tag place about five minutes later... unfortunately, it was next to impossible to get to Safeway because of
this incident. Most of Federal Way's main core area was shut off with police tape, and it wasn't obvious as to why for a long time.
We made it to laser tag with five minutes to spare (when I'd planned to be 40 minutes early), and the games were fun. I got 4th place and 9th place! I love shooting little boys. Hehe. :) Anyway, the pizza ended up being 20 minutes late, which means that we were late vacating the room and the people who worked there were kind of stressing, trying to get us to leave since there was another party... they were nice about it, but it was still sort of a rush job. I thanked her for being patient, and cleaned the room of garbage so it would only have to be wiped down.
Turns out the girl who works there is one of the people who moved in upstairs from us about a month ago. Weird, considering this apartment complex holds several hundred apartments, and there are a lot of similar apartment complexes in the area.
We later went to the mall to get a present for a birthday party Ethan was invited to go to tomorrow, and then we went to see Bridge to Terabithia, which made me cry my eyes out.
Katrina's dad wants her home at 9 a.m. tomorrow, which really annoys me considering we usually don't wake up until at least 10, and I've been sort of sick (bad cold) all week and could really use the sleep. I got up early this morning too, so there's not really going to be any catching up on sleep this weekend. Boo.
I hate that we are doing him a favor by taking care of his daughter, and he can't even be arsed to pick her up, since he needs her at such an inconvenient time. I'd be inclined to write it off as a stressful time for them, but he's pulled this sort of thing on us before, telling his daughter she could spend the night, waiting until she's over here, and then calling her with some ungodly early time that we need to drive her home by, and if she's not driven home then she has to walk the mile and a half home in the cold rain. I can't stand by and let that happen.
That's my tl;dr rant for the evening. :)
Also I took the girls to the local comic book store this evening, not because I'm into comic books, but because there is a Gunslinger comic book series that is an apparent prequel to Stephen King's Dark Tower books. I picked up the first two while I was there, and they seem incredible so far! However, Brittany was mortified and embarassed and made a big deal out of being at the comic book store with a bunch of nerds! I thought that was so funny, considering the people there seemed really super cool and friendly and it was a very laidback, mellow atmosphere. The guy gave her a Spiderman 3 promotional comic, and I caught her reading it later. Ha!
What is a nerd to Brittany is a peer to me, I suppose!
Romulus is back from getting some olives, and I'm going to have a vodka martini and chill for a couple hours. :)
