in your dreams (title still in the works)

Sep 05, 2007 22:03

count back from ten.
watch the sheep jump
on the cusp of REM.
retrace the steps towards the bed.
go back, go back
to when your thoughts
were screaming the shadows
that covered these wounds.
clean the slate.
'coz your thoughts are the devil
in the guise of a haloed face.
and you find me the fool
with "it's okay. we're okay."
and a smile on my face.

but do you see the flowers on the corner,
bright red, violet and blue?
do you see the green, green grass,
not just the smoke in your eyes?
light through my tears
fade into the silence,
warped with your stale moments.

you dream in black and white, baby,
(i need color in my life)
you dream in black and white
(i need more than this tonight)
leave the monochrome to the sad painter.
make it more for us this time.

it's starting to rain
but the clouds remain unmoving.
with hints, we lie
in this lie
and we pretend
it's okay. we're okay.

but you don't see the flowers on the corner,
bright red, violet and blue.
you don't see the green, green grass,
only the smoke in your eyes.
light through my tears
fade into the silence
warped with these stale moments.

you dream in black and white, baby,
(i need color in my life)
you dream in black and white
(i need more than this tonight)
leave the monochrome to the sad painter.
make it more for us this time.

don't let me fade into the light.
don't let me fade into the night.
don't dream in black and white.
leave the monochrome to the sad painter.
dream more for us this time.
