"X3" is disappointing

You know, movies during this time are supposed, I repeat, supposed to be good. It is summer after all (of course in Malaysia it's always summer) and we're supposed to be spending good money on these movies right? Right?! And the answer is...no! It's still a little too early but the first of summer movies are usually an omen on what's to come. Like "Mission Impossible 3", I had this expression for the duration of the movie: ^_^"

Anyway, I watched "X-Men 3: The Last Stand". Like "MI:3", I had been waiting for "X3" for as long as I can remember being a X-Men comic geek all this time. Good things just don't last.

Halfway through the movie, I was already contemplating on whether I should leave the cinema or not. I was not even comparing the movie to the comics and I was already annoyed with it! No spoilers here but here's a list of what pissed me off: too many major deaths, useless character introductions since we know little/nothing about them, good story but poor execution, the fights were just OK, anticipated character fights never happened e.g Colossus vs. Juggernaught and missing characters (where's Nightcrawler?!).

Yeah well, special effects and all were good but it's pretty boring now. All style and no substance. I haven't even made a comparison to the comics yet but I shall leave that for another day. At the end of the day, "X3" is just part of a franchise aimed to draw the big bucks and leaving me feeling like I have been conned. So what else is new about all these disappointing summer movies? I think I should just lower my standards. Ho hum.
