The Fall

So, first memory, well since it took place nineteen years ago, the details are kinda sketchy and I'm sure my brain has filled in gaps with more mythological themes. I was about four, we were living on Long Island, New York and it was a hot summer day and my brother and the two older neighbor girls decided that it would be a great idea to test out the new swimming pool in our background. Me, being the pesky little sister thought it would be great to join them. So I ran upstairs, put on my swimsuit and ran back down. Unfortunately, the were older and thus a tad bit faster and they were already enjoying the water. There was one slight problem from my point of view, a five foot cedar fence separated me from the fun. Which was locked. For some reason I couldn't unlock it and my brother wasn't about to let me in, so I improvised through my bawling. I began to try to climb up the fence, yeah not the best idea in the world. I ended up falling off the fence and being in immense amounts of pain for a four year old. not the most pleasant first memory, but it fits into so many mythic patterns that it makes sense why I still remember it.
