Of course I sent him the money! I'm no dummy!

I was looking for possible rental houses on Craigslist, and I inquired about a big, beautiful, and inexpensive beachfront property. turns out I was taking the bait of a classic Nigerian 419 scammer. Click below for the text of the HI-LARIOUS email I got back from the "landlord":

HELLO! I AM IN NIGERIA AND CAN'T MEET YOU TO SHOW THE HOUSE, BUT PLEASE SEND MONEY AND I WILL SEND KEY! )

Maybe we were using the same doorman! That would be an incredible coincidence!

The next best thing to a a big, beautiful, and inexpensive beachfront property is Nigerian scam emails with which to impress your friends.

Now, is there anyway you can keep the emails going while dropping a line to craigslist admin to get them to remove the ad.

Well, of course I've flagged the ad for abuse, and I suppose I should do something more. I did a bit of research and found the actual owners of the houses, perhaps I should contact them directly.

I also have a concern: I divulged my name and cell phone number in my original inquiry. I don't think I'm vulnerable with that little personal info, but perhaps I should be on Threat Level Bert.

Probably not to worry much, but be alert for more scam emails in the coming weeks.

My landlord got a scam like that when he was trying to rent a property. Someone wrote as a girl who was moving here from England and she even sent a box of something to the landlord and asked him to wire her his bank account so she could send the money.

Luckily, he didn't fall for it.
