Marissa found herself transported, suddenly in unfamiliar surroundings. The last she remembered, she had been on a routine flight to meet Dad at the Lunar Colony; now she was here. Instantly, she shifted to battle awareness. She felt for her null-ray blaster and was comforted by the fact she had not been disarmed. Drawing her weapon, she scanned her surroundings. The metallic structures towered over her, the doors much larger than human scale. It looked like Cybertron; she recalled her first visit with Sky Lynx and Ultra Magnus.
Were the Quintessons behind this? Her past dealings with the tentacled aliens had taught her mistrust of their kind. She glanced down at her watch, just briefly, to see if time had passed. Warily, she called out, "Listen you, whoever you are! I am a Captain in Earth Defense Command! Abduction of sentient beings is a criminal offense! I demand to be returned to my point of origin at once!"
There was no answer.
"Show yourself!" She challenged.
There seemed no answer, until a flash of color in the periphery of her vision, followed by an unfamiliar whoosh-click sound, drew her attention. She turned, blaster held before her, and saw a sleek robotic creature roughly as large as she. Its pointed head seemed to track her in a manner that was universally predatory.
"Stay back," she warned, in English, not knowing if it was sentient. Marissa spoke several other Earth languages - Mom being a linguist, and having grown-up in a military family - but she didn't think it any more likely an robotic alien would comprehend Arabic or Japanese. That it could understood her tone of warning at all had been a long-shot.
The creature pounced and Marissa quickly ascended on her jetpack, even as she fired her blaster. She did not escape entirely. The metallic claws sliced right through the leg of her space suit. She was bleeding. The creature was stunned, but the null-ray would only disrupt the electrical systems of technological beings temporarily. If these things tracked by scent, the way Earth predators did, sealing the wound was a priority. Mentally she listed these and then acted.
Marissa continued her visual scanning, as she set-down on the roadway. She put her free hand to her leg, applying pressure to the wound. Holstering her blaster, she then took her emergency kit from her duffel. She had been lured into a trap and abducted with less gear and survived that, so Marissa counted herself fortunate to have been transported mid-flight.
The creature had not disappeared, did not seem illusion. The roadway felt real enough, as did her pain. She glanced to her wrist as she applied a few butterflies to the gash. Her atmosphere indicator showed a plus sign, which meant it would be breathable, but her positioning indicator showed a 'no data' error. This was troubling, as her EDC devices were designed to be compatible with Autobot satellites.
The surface below Marissa vibrated as she finished wrapping tape over her wounded leg, to keep pressure on the bandaged wound, as well as seal her spacesuit. "This is not my day," she said. Marissa considered that the vibrations indicated she was in a ship, and the sky illusion, but she had to allow that was not the case and she was on Cybertron - she hoped this wasn't Chaar - and perhaps not in a stable area. She lifted her visor*, then reached to the controls over her shoulder to conserve her air supply. "Hello! Can anyone hear me? It's Faireborn of Earth Defense Command!"
Marissa waited a moment and then activated her communicator to broadcast a distress call, on a channel in the range of frequencies used for EDC emergency communication, which she knew Autobots to monitor. //Pan-pan, pan-pan, pan-pan. This is Captain Marissa Faireborn of Earth Defense Command. Faireborn. Faireborn. Possible assistance needed. Position unknown, previously en route between Earth and Lunar Colony, now on foot in proximity of towering, gold buildings. EDC officer removed from transport, without functional positioning device, minor injury sustained, experiencing ground tremors. Possible assistance needed. Faireborn, over.\\
Message recorded for possible repetition, Marissa decided her next priority was to locate stable shelter and, if no reply was received, long range communications equipment.
[*They never draw her helmet with any indication that there is a visor in front of her face, but she is shown walking around breathing on Io, so it must exist.]
