She didn't say a word. There was nothing to say. What he was doing she didn't know. She knew in the sense that he'd told her but beyond that... she didn't know a thing of what he was doing. It was odd to see and her mind kept going back to what he'd told her. But that was the hardest part. She couldn't let go of Sam. Even if he could let go of her.

"I saw what you couldn't tell me," he says softly. "And I think I understand your trouble with that, now."

She gives a slight nod and frowns even as he says that. Something like that... what had happened, she wouldn't put on anyone. No matter what. "Do you?"

"It's never easy to talk about, that kind of death," he replies. "You're fortunate to be as you are - many spirits who die like that... lose themselves."

"I'm not sure that I haven't. Actually, I'm not even sure what keeps me here. Or rather there." No, Milliways she knew kept her because there she looked alive. Something to that effect anyway.

"No, I mean... Right now, you look as you did in life, don't you?" he asks. "You can remember your own name, can't you? You haven't lost yourself."

"One can know those things and still be lost." She states softly looking out towards the rest of the cemetary, wrapping her arms around herself. "Or maybe what you're talking about just hasn't happened yet and in time I will."

"Mmm. It's possible," he replies. "Most who don't eventually move on, at some point or another. If it comes to that, I or another like me will be there to help you find your way again."

Tears pricked those blue eyes and she shakes her head, blonde hair falling into her face a little. "I wish that damn thing had never shown up in my life." She didn't want to be dead. Didn't want to relive the nightmare day in and day out. And now... she knew she didn't want to ever forget whom she was.

"You can't change the past," Hao says, reaching out to tuck her hair back again. "But you can still shape your future."

"And I don't see what future one has when the person is dead."

Hao shakes his head.

"That's one of the problems with humans," he says. "Always seem to think that death is the end. The dead have almost all the options of the living, as well as a few that the living lack."

"Because for us death is the end. There's nothing one can do when it ends. Life is essentially over and whatever you had is gone. So, of course, we'd think that."

He sighs, shaking his head again.

"You say that, when I've already told you... Life isn't the purpose, or even the whole of existence. Although it can be cut short prematurely, the end of life is not the end. And sometimes, even death can be averted, or undone. So you see, any state we find ourselves in is only transitory."

"Yeah, you've said that. More than once. But the dead can't live again. If they could I'd do anything to be that way again. I wouldn't care how just as long as I was." She shrugs. "It doesn't matter though." It wasn't going to happen.

"Oh, but it can happen," Hao says. "That too is within the powers of a shaman. It's not something to be done lightly, or without reason, though."
