Don't count your owls before they are delivered...

YES, I worked it out so I was able to go to the Midnight Party at B&N, but I had to wait until the next morning to get my book from Target. The Party was a ton of fun. I dressed up completely in my robe, tie, wand, and scar. I thought there was supposed to be more people dressed up, but I was one of the oldest except for the workers. I met up with Ali and we both completed the adult scavenger hunt. It was really hard but we finished before time was up. I won 2nd place for the scavenger hunt and got a hat. I've also got my picture with Harry Potter hanging on my wall. haha...

Band camp has started once again. Day three of band camp and I didn't put on enough sun screen, so I'm bright red on my back. McIntyre is alright. So far there isn't anything that bugs me about him. He seems like a nice guy.

I'm very upset about school starting. Freshmen year was incredibly stressful. I also have a ton of reading to do. Blah.

Also, Ann I read you entry and comment! I haven't gotten the email you said you sent me. I'll check back later. Miss you lots!

Ok, here it goes...

This cut is to my complete review of the latest Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The entire thing is filled with spoilers, so if you don't want the end given away don't click it.

Let me start off by saying... whoa. Snape. One of my most favorite characters... evil. I mean we all knew he was terribly grumpy and awfully mean to Harry and his other classmates, but really, a death eater? I thought when we had Dumbledore's trust that meant something.

This book took several different turns that I didn't see coming. I thoroughly enjoyed how J.K. threw in a little romance. I loved the little things, like when Ron would get jealous because Hermione was praising Harry. Through the entire book it seemed like they were going to come to their senses and kiss each other...but that never happened. Maybe in book 7? I really didn't think Harry was ever going to fall for Ginny. There was no indication in the other books. They were cute though for the few days they went out. The thing I liked most about Order of the Phoenix was that Harry seemed to always draw attention by standing up for what he believed in. I absolutely loved the scenes where he yelled at Umbridge saying that Voldemort was back. Half-Blood Prince didn't seem to have that as much. When Harry came into the common room after the last match (the one where Ginny was seeker) their kiss was very cute. It was similar to those outbursts that drew all the attention like in Order of the Phoenix.

Chapter two drove me mad. I knew Snape couldn't be with the death eaters. I just knew he was only meeting with them and helping them because some how he was acting as a spy. Once the school year started he was doing some mighty good acting while running around with Malfoy. Well, I was wrong, and he wasn't acting at all. I was hoping through the entire book I would solve the mystery of why Snape was being so weird. At the end it wasn't even that clear until he killed Dumbledore. Wait; hasn't Dumbledore been saying alll these years that Snape was trusted? Harry ranted on that Snape was the evil one, but I knew that couldn't be right. Harry and the others thought he was the evil on in Sorcerer’s Stone, but it turned out he was saving Harry. I seemed like in the 2nd chapter he was just making up reasons so the death eaters would believe what he was saying. I really thought Snape had a soft side to him, and that's why I liked him so much.

While Dumbledore's death was very unfortunate, mainly for Harry, it still lacked the depth that Sirius's death had. I didn't feel that it was nearly as emotional as Order of the Phoenix was. I found Luna’s commentary at the Quidditch match very clever, and I loved the scenes with the Weasley twins. I miss those boys a lot.

I was aching for Sirius very badly. I wish Lupin had taken over for the role as Harry’s godfather/dad kind of thing. I know how he explained he was busy, but I did think he could of at least wrote Harry letters. I liked the Lupin/Tonks relationship and really wished J.K. could have built it up more.
This book was a key piece to introduce us to lots of new information on Voldemort. All in this entire book was a nice addition to the Harry Potter series, but unfortunately I didn’t find it as good as Order of the Phoenix or Azkaban. This book had some unexpected twists that I found to be too twisted. This book also gave us lighthearted moments, and let us realize how easily even the most powerful can be deceived.

“And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”
whooo hooo for two more years 'till book 7!

P.S. Eat that Harry/Hermione shippers.
