Name: Eve
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Fandom: Black Cat (manga)
Timeline: Post-canon
History:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Black_Cat_characters#Eve http://villains.wikia.com/wiki/Nanomachines#Torneo_Rudman_and_Eve Character Personality:
Eve was originally brought up as a killing weapon. She was told that she was a demon, that killing people was what she was meant to do. After she was given her freedom by Train and Sven, she began to believe that, instead of killing, she'd rather use her powers to protect. By the end of the manga, she saw using her powers to protect wasn't only because she wanted to become a Sweeper, but also a way for her to atone for all those people that she killed in the past. She learned from Train that you couldn't throw away your past, so she decided to live in a way that would make up for all the wrong things she had done before. She's also learned to value people's lives and come to love the world she lives in, which is why she can't forgive those who would hurt others for any reason. But even so she would choose not to kill them as long as they're still human, because she wants to give them the chance to redeem themselves, the way she was able to.
She also cannot stand by when a woman is in trouble, in part because the man who had given her freedom's "Gentleman's Code" stated that he cannot turn a blind eye on a woman in need, and Eve looks up to him a great deal.
A lot of her morals and beliefs came from the two men whom she was travelling with. Sven had tried to leave her behind at one point stating that the life of a Sweeper was too dangerous for her, and could never bring her happiness. But what Eve wants isn't a steady home or safety. What she wanted was to travel with them and become a Sweeper. To help people, and protect people, and knowing that as long as she was with them she wouldn't be alone. She even told him when she followed him despite him asking her not to, that if staying behind would bring her happiness then she didn't want it.
Eve is a quiet child who doesn't normally display a wide range of expressions on her face. Most of the time she just line-faces a lot. But she does feel very strong emotions, like loneliness, happiness and sadness, and when she feels them they're very easy to read. While she's not very good at showing them, she's also doesn't know how to hide them and as such tends to wear her heart on her sleeve. She also doesn't lie which sometimes leads to her being very bluntly honest.
She doesn't talk a lot, preferring to stick her nose in a book. Towards the people she really cares about, however, she's a little more social. She likes dressing cutely as well, as shown by the outfits she wore in canon.
Being brought up as a weapon, she's not very good at showing concern, to the point where it's difficult for people who don't know her very well to tell that she's worried about them. Because it's so hard for her to show concern, when her attempts are met with teasing, she becomes violent and often transforms her arms into a mallet and hits the offender. In fact, sometimes when she's startle or becomes incredibly embarrassed she also reacts in this way.
There are a lot of things she still doesn't understand about the world and people. She had, after all, been raised in the isolation of Torneo's mansion for the first eleven years of her life. Through the course of the manga, she sees the best and the ugliest sides of humanity, so by now she won't be as surprised if the person she just tried to save tries to stab her in the back, or if they return the favour and save her in return. She's travelled to many places following Train and Sven around helping them as a Sweeper (albeit one without a license, which is a sore point for her). But there's only so much one can see in such a short amount of time, so she still harbours a lot of curiosity towards the world around her and enjoys observing things and people.
Character Abilities:
The nanomachines inside Eve gives her the ability to change the DNA structure of her body at will, thus giving her the ability to shape-shift. She could take different parts of her body and change them into different kinds of weapons, including turning her hair into knives or fists. She's capable of full-body transformations like turning into a mermaid. She could also use incomplete nanomachines to create objects not connected to her body like weapons and projectiles, but these, as well, as full-body transformations disappear after one minute.
The nanomachines also speed up her body's natural healing, allowing her to fully recover in two days, what would have taken a normal person two weeks to recover from. During this time, Eve will fall into a sort of coma till she's finished recovering.
Eve can also connect to machines by transferring some of her nanomachines into it. She can transfer some of her nanomachines into other people as well.
She's also very books smart, able to read complicated books that even many adults have trouble with. She remembers everything she reads.
She's an able fighter, even once fought a T-Rex before she even fully mastered her abilities, and later defeated a super-powered android and a boy with supernatural powers that most normal adults couldn't defeat.
Character Weaknesses:
Eve cannot hold her transformations indefinitely. Larger more taxing transformations like growing a pair of working angel wings last for only a minute before a self-preserving reflex within Eve forcibly dispells the transformation.
Also, even though Eve's body produces nanomachines like most normal people produces blood cells, if she performs too many transformation within a short amount of time, she will become drained possibly even to the point of being barely be able to stand.
Her desire to not kill people, even going as far as protecting those who were her enemies leaves her open to betrayal.
She's very awkward about and isn't very good at showing concern for others, and despite how much she has learned during her travels, there's still a lot about the world she doesn't understand. She's also not very good at hiding her emotions and isn't a very good liar.
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What are the abilities that your character will retain in Soul Campaign?
- ability to retain everything she reads and, by extension to understand all the incredibly difficult texts she has read already
- fighting abilities, though these will become limited by her shape-shifting powers being taken away.
What are the weaknesses that your character will lose or gain in Soul Campaign?
- one of the advantages of being a shape-shifter is that the kinds of weapons at her disposal is very versatile, allowing her to switch between projectile, bladed and blunt weapons as she needs it. She can create a shield or change her skin to metal for defense, grow wings for aerial battles, even fend off people who are attacking her from behind by transforming her hair into weapons. This will be taken away from her, and while she will need to adjust to that.
- she no longer has her accelerated healing.
- she won't be comfortable with the idea of killing kishins and witches at first, but she should eventually be able to overcome this when she realizes that there's no going back for them like that android she had to defeat in canon, but she'll probably need some convincing.
Why your character should be a Meister: Simply put, after years of being forced to use her powers to kill, Eve prefers to be able to choose how to use her powers. If she could, she would rather be in a position where she can choose when to fight, and when not to. But more importantly, she is willing to take full responsibility for her actions and choices, no matter what the outcome is. She understands that choosing and freedom means being responsible for whatever choice she makes. Also, during the story she has shown that she won't just accept another's decision if she doesn't feel that it's the right one. Eve is, when it comes down to it, the kind of person that wants to protect other people, so the fact that Meisters are more likely to sustain physical injuries instead of the Weapon suits her just fine. Furthermore, having once been treated as a weapon, a tool herself, she won't treat a Weapon the way she had been treated before.
Meister Ability: Rapid Recovery
THIS SECTION NO LONGER APPLIES SINCE SHE HAS BEEN SWITCHED TO A MEISTER.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why your character should be a Weapon: Eve's desire to protect others makes her more ideal to be a Weapon, especially seeing as without her powers she would be weakened a bit. Also, she's not the leader type, and her own body is basically a weapon anyway.
What is your character's Weapon form?: A cream coloured scarf that is long enough that both ends will reach past a person's knees when worn around the neck of an average person. When worn by a Meister (and by worn, I mean the scarf must be wrapped around some part of their body) the Meister can control the movement of the two ends of the scarf using their mind, like an extra pair of arms. When resonation occurs, Eve's Weapon form, in addition to moving, can also "transform" to a certain degree, reflecting some of her shape-shifting abilities from before.
- The scarf itself can be hardened allowing for it to be used either as a shield or as a blunt weapon after using this ability.
- The edges of the scarf can be sharpened, turning it into a slashing weapon. Doing this requires better resonation than just hardening the scarf. Defending in this state is difficult, if not impossible.
Both of these states can be held for a couple of minutes, depending on how good resonation between Weapon and Meister is, before the scarf reverts to its original, softer state. However, you could use them one after another (for example, sharpening the edges of the scarf after the hardening wears out).
At first the number of consecutive transformations Eve can undergo safely within an hour is four, any transformation here-after that will tire her out terribly. If she transforms far too many times she will revert to her human form and fall into a coma-like sleep until she's fully recovered.
After consuming 20 souls, the number of consecutive transformations she can undergo without becoming tired is increased to six, and at 40 souls this increases to 10. As with when she started off, more transformations than the number stated will cause great fatigue.
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Soul Description: Compassionate, loyal, determined, naive, quiet, inquisitive.
Soul Appearance: Eve's soul is a warm golden-white colour. Some drooping shapes hang frame the soul like her bangs frame her face. Generally, her expression is a lineface.
[ SAMPLES ]
First Person:
[The feed comes on to reveal a little girl with golden hair and pink eyes. The expression on her face is oddly serious one so young.]
About the Witches and these kishin eggs...is it really necessary to kill them?
[She pursed her lips a little, as if the idea of killing anyone was one she didn't want to touch even with a ten-foot pole. And then the feed cuts off, because she really doesn't have anything else she wants to say.]
Third Person:
The place they were stopping in was a small, hill-side town with (thankfully) a gas station and lots of sheep.
While Sven and Train took care of getting the car refueled (or rather, Sven was taking care of that while Train was napping in the back seat). Eve was staring at a field of the white, wooly creatures with her chin propped on the fence. She had seen them before, painted on the pages of books (in the ones about biology and farms and little girls called Bo-Peep too), but this was her first time seeing the real thing. They didn't look quite like she imagined. They smelled more, for one.
One of the lambs stumbled over to where she was standing, stopped in front of the fence and stared at the strange girl standing there. Eve stared back.
"Eve, let's go."
Her head came up at the familiar voice and she pushed off from the fence. She gave the lamb one last look, as if saying goodbye, then turned around...
...and stopped short.
Where her travelling companions and their vehicle should have been was the wall of a dark room. She looked back, and it was the same. No sheep or fence of mountain vista...only a dark unfamiliar room.
Something like this had happened before...except the person with the power to do this wasn't their enemy anymore. Her heart pounded in her chest. What if it was a new enemy? She reached for the WAP in the pouch wrapped around her waist to contact her companions (knowing they were strong enough to take care of themselves, but worrying all the same), that's when the screens flickered on.
Her expression as she watched the screen went from panicked and worried, to disbelieving then back to a thoughtful kind of lineface.
...what would the bounty for bringing the leader of a kidnapping ring like this be worth?
