[As she watched the dream, memories of that fateful day came pouring back. How rotten the air smelled, how heavy poured on the two of them. When the dream was over, Tohru rushed through the house, searching for Kyou. The roof was her last stop but by the time she reached the top, the girl was out of breath.]

Kyo--[She takes a deep breath, ducking her head down and putting a hand on her chest while trying to calm her beating heart.] Kyou-kun, are you... [Another breath] Are you all right?

[Kyou sat up from where he lay upon hearing Tohru's voice. He pushes against the roof to look at her better when he notices just how breathless she sounded. And looked.]

What happened to you?

[onigiri_itsumo]

I... couldn't find you... in your room. I [coughs] searched the entire house for you...

[Tohru felt really winded. Maybe she should just sit down and try to catch her breath.]

I've been up here for a while now.

[He'll just be patting the spot beside him.] You look like you ran a marathon.

O-oh, I see.

[She carefully makes her way towards him and takes a seat beside Kyou.]

I-I do? [Tohru tries to laugh but another cough comes out. Her breathing is calming down though, not like when she first climbed up the roof.]

Ah, are you all right, Kyou-kun?

You do. You sure you really weren't in one?

[He's just teasing of course. But he may be trying to delay answering her question too.]

N-no! A-absolutely not! I-I ran through the entire house!

[A smile breaks his serious demeanor as he leans forward, looking straight at Tohru.]

You really are gullible, aren't you?

[She meets his eyes a short moment before looking down, a blush apparent on her cheeks. Tohru had known Kyou for quite some time now, yet his smile always disarms her.]

I-I... I'm...

[She hangs her head, her shoulder slump.] I was really worried, Kyou-kun.

[The smile disappears and he almost immediately looks away.]

About that dream? Don't worry about it.

[She's not convinced that he was all right. In fact, it was making her worry more.]

Are... you sure, Kyou-kun? I... [She puts a hand on her heart.] I felt it. I felt how scared you were.

[He clicked his tongue, annoyed once more at the Dreamberry and its stupid functions. She wouldn't have felt that if it weren't for the device.]

...I wasn't scared. You only think that I was.

O-oh... I-if you say so, Kyou-kun.

[She shifts in her seat, bringing to her legs to herself and hugging her knees.]

I still... [Sighs, resting her forehead on her knees.] remember that day.

[He can't do much to comfort her right now. And it didn't help in the least that he felt horrible too. It was almost as if he relived that day once more, right down to the putrid scent that he emitted in that form.

Unconsciously, he starts playing with the beads that he has wrapped around his left wrist.]

Yeah... It's not-- [It's not easy to forget it...] Seriously, it's nothing.

No... [She shakes her head, peeking at him from the corner of her eye.] It's not nothing, Kyou-kun...

I... was really scared that day. I wasn't sure of what... [Takes a big breath.] what would happen.

I didn't know what was going to happen either. I thought... [There were many things he had thought that night. And all of that had come rushing back at him because of that stupid dream. Why? Why did he see it now?

The boy moves closer to his knees, resting his elbows on the as he cups his chin on the palm of his hand.]

I almost thought that was the end. [Of a lot of things.]
