1. Pure Gold: Bobby Bowden An Inside Look by Steve Ellis and Bill Vilona - Interesting book covering his entire FSU career including interviews of some of his better known players, former coaches, and his football coach sons. Further review here

2. Frozen in Time: The Enduring Legacy of the 1961 U.S. Figure Skating Team by Nikki Nichols - This excited the girly sports fan in me, but it covers a narrow timespan complete with a view of the sport at the time. It is heart-wrenching story that explains Peggy Fleming's status in the sport. Further review here

3. The Innocent Man by John Grisham - This is his first non-fiction book and while well researched, parts of the story don't weave together too well. It's about the murder of Debra Sue Carter and the consequences of small town justice for Ron Williamson and Dennis Fritz.

4. Flags Of Our Fathers by James H. Bradley - The story of the flagraising on Iwo Jima, much better than the movie, more fair. However, it is definitely a military history book, so it is a bit graphic.

5. Cinderella Man by Jeremy Schaap - Although known mainly as a reporter for ESPN, Schaap weaves together a good narrative of perhaps boxing's best underdog story. The story follows James J. Braddock and Max Baer through their careers to their 1935 title bout.
