i finally caved in and let myself download yoshimi battles the pink robots. i've listened to it extensively over the past two days and have come to two conclusions:
a) i like the album. it's not the greatest listen i've ever had, but certainly not the worst. some tracks that stand out: "yoshimi battles the pink robots, pt. I"; "ego tripping at the gates of hell" (probably my pick of the litter so far); and "all we have is now."
b) it makes me feel like i've just had ethereal sex with millions of tiny bubbles while sipping a margarita...
in conclusion: despite some of the fantastic tracks (those listed above), yoshimi probably won't make it into the upper eschelons of my favorite albums. wayne & co. have certainly constructed an aural experience that i consider the musical equivilant to dali's Temptation of St. Anthony: it's nice to admire for it's quality from time to time, but paying too much attention to it could make blood shoot out your nose.
