That's a very ample living room that's going to be re-carpeted. Shame he can't be talked into more tile. Are you keeping tile where there was the other faux tile, like the entryway through the kitchen?

I get tired just looking at the boxes you have yet to pack. I feel like I've made boxes my main decor in every room...for the last 2 years.

Yeah, everywhere that had crappy vinyl tile is going to have better ceramic tile. Plus, we're going to put some around the hearth for a little extra protection against inadvertant escaping embers. Not that we use the fireplace that often. I think it got more use before hubby moved in years ago, but it's still nice to have if the power ever goes out in the winter.

I think I'd be the one telling people who live near the equator that you still need a fireplace if the power goes out. I can't believe they won't allow them in mobile home parks. pfff

Lovely cat, I wonder in what colors you're going to do her. :-)

Can't wait to see the After pictures.

She's already been done up in dust. We brushed her before she had a chance to groom herself. She's not too fond of the chaos downstairs, but we're keeping the doors upstairs closed to discourage the cats from getting into stuff they shouldn't.

Wow - all these boxes! I wasn't aware that there was that much stuff in there ;-)!

Can't remember the floor being in such bad shape, either.

Arya looks so pretty! Hope she'll get through all the action without any bad scares and anxieties.

I have another question for you. Behind your bamboo wall hanging is a box-like structure that turns your kitchen into and L shape. Are you going to take that out, or is that structure a pantry or storage closet? If it wasn't there you'd have room for an island and a roomier kitchen, a more open concept overall. I suppose it's a load bearing wall huh.

If I remember it correctly, that's the laundry corner and yeah, bearing, I'd wager...

You're right. It's a laundry island and load bearing. The water heater and circuit box is in there too.

Your kitchen looks like a contemporary of mine.
